Free City Wide Storm Debris Drop-off

Louisville Metro Public Works is providing free drop-off service for residential storm debris from Monday, November 19 through Saturday, December 1 at seven locations.

In addition, residents of the Urban Services District may set storm debris out with regular yard waste, if it is bundled with twine.

Eligible debris includes tree limbs and other compostable materials. No construction or demolition materials, shingles, municipal garbage or man-made materials will be accepted. Branches should be less than four feet long and two inches wide.

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, drop-off service will not be available on Thursday, November 22 or Friday, November 23. Service will resume on November 26.

Monday – Friday, noon to 6 p.m.:

  • 4810 Exeter Avenue, Newburg Community Center
  • 7201 Outer Loop Road, Highview Park
  • 10450 Lower River Road, Public Works yard
  • 5550 Charlie Vettiner Park Road, Charlie Vettiner Park
    Shawnee Park Drive at Dirt Bowl Drive in Shawnee Park
  • 595 Hubbards Lane, staffed recycling center
  • 7219 Dixie Highway, staffed recycling center

 

Saturday December 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

  • 595 Hubbards Lane, staffed recycling center
  • 7219 Dixie Highway, staffed recycling center
     

The free service is available only to Jefferson County residents, who must show a government-issued identification verifying they live in the county. Contractors or persons for hire are not included in the free service and will be charged according to the posted fee schedule.


Waste Reduction Center Closure Extended

Shutdown for repairs extends through November 26

Repair work at the Louisville Metro Waste Reduction Center has been extended by one week. The facility at 636 Meriwether Avenue, initially planned for reopening November 20, will instead resume drop-off disposal service for large waste items on Tuesday November 27.

During the closure, the WRC will not be available for leaf drop-off service. Leaf drop-off at the WRC will begin when the facility reopens on November 27 and continue through December 1. The WRC will be closed on November 22 and 23 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Beginning November 6:

  • Public Works Yard - 10500 Lower River Road (enter from Bethany Lane)
    • Tuesday – Saturday
    • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Public Works East District Operations Center - 595 Hubbards Lane
    • Tuesday – Saturday
    • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Beginning November 27:

  • Public Works Waste Reduction Center - 636 Meriwether Avenue
    • Tuesday – Friday:  9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Saturday:  9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
