St. Joseph resident Nicholas Johnson is one of the latest graduates of the Neighborhood Institute offered by the Center for Neighborhoods. The program runs for 12 weeks with weekly classes offering a variety of subjects covering our entire community. Nicholas is pictured with Councilwoman Marianne Butler at the graduation ceremony. No residential garbage, recycling or yard waste on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 22. Residents who normally have garbage/yard waste/recycling collection on Thursday will have service on Friday, November 23. The regular Friday collection is delayed until Saturday, November 24. |
The second phase of a reconfiguration of South 3rd Street is scheduled for the week of November 26, weather permitting. Third Street between Southern Parkway and Florence Avenue now has four lanes of traffic with two going in each direction. The new configuration will be three lanes, with one travel lane in each direction flanking a center turning lane. The purpose is to create safer, less congested travel for all road users. The change is identical to the Phase I reconfiguration done between Kenwood Way and Southern Heights Avenue in 2016.
The LIHEAP Subsidy Component begins Monday, Nov. 5 through Dec. 14, 2018, or until funding is depleted, whichever comes first. To apply residents must schedule an appointment utilizing the automated appointment system. The appointment system is currently open and is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Louisville Metro residents not mulching autumn leaves into their lawns or using curbside collection will have the option to dispose of them at one of three drop-off sites from November 6th through December 1st. Drop-off will not be available on November 22 and 23 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Only loose leaves will be accepted. Containers used to bring leaves to the drop-off sites must be disposed of off-site by residents.

The 95-gallon and 65-gallon recycling carts are available for District 15 residents for only $25 -- this is a 50% discount. Due to the change in KY tax code, we must now charge sales tax on the value of the item - therefore the total for the cart is $28 - $25 for the cart and $3.00 for tax.
