Thanks to District 10 Brightside volunteers!

Watterson Park group

District 10 is a cleaner, greener place to be thanks to our many Brightside volunteers.

Above, volunteers in Watterson Park paused for a photo. Not everyone who participated is in the picture since a few folks picked up their supplies and cleaned up at another time. Watterson Park residents have participated in the Brightside event since 2013.

"I am really proud of our team," Watterson Park Mayor Linda Chesser said, "and it's especially nice when parents get their children involved. They learn to take pride in the community and the importance of volunteerism at an early age."

Mayor Chesser, who was unable to work due to a medical procedure, thanked Tiffany Woodson for leading the cleanup efforts.

"Tiffany took over the lead on Brightside a few years ago and does a great job, and I appreciate her," Chesser said. They worked hard to carry the torch and continue the tradition."

Below, a clean park and junk bagged up and ready to go.

Watterson Park cleanup

Meanwhile, in Germantown, the Weiter family cleaned up the alley between Schiller Avenue and Rammers Avenue. This labor of love honored the memory of Mrs. Weiter, on what would have been her 87th birthday.

Below, Mr. Weiter, 96 years old, is surrounded by family and friends in "Weiterville."

The Weiters and their friends cleared debris and overgrowth along the blocks of alley between Schiller and Rammers Avenues. Thanks to all the Weiters family and friends for improving the area.

Thanks to John Schweri and everyone who worked on the area near the railroad overpass on the east side of Preston Highway at Belmar.

Audubon Park Brightside group

At the City of Audubon Park entrance at Preston Highway, Gary Robben, Darrell Shelton, Marie Eff, Leah Netherland, and Shirley Robben paused for a photo. Thanks to this group for caring for the beautiful city.
