Louder Than Life Canceled

Louder Than Life

This year's Louder Than Life Festival, originally scheduled for this weekend in Champions Park, has been canceled due to rain and resultant flooding that has caused 'unsafe conditions' for a festival at the park.

"It is with deep regret that we inform you that this weekend’s Louder Than Life festival has been canceled due to unsafe conditions resulting from ongoing rain and flooding at the festival site — Champions Park," festival organizers wrote in an official statement. "After carefully inspecting the grounds and infrastructure (Monday) evening, the City and we have determined that it is no longer possible to make the festival site safe in time for this weekend." The second day of the Bourbon and Beyond Festival, also at Champions Park, was canceled on Sunday, also due to rain and flooding.

Cleanup efforts at the park, for which festival organizers are responsible under their contract with the City, will continue for some time. Damaged turf will be graded and reseeded and paths will be cleared of mud.  Portions of the park will be inaccessible as this work and removal of equipment progresses.

Please be patient - and very careful in the park.  It is important that all dogs be on leash at all times.  That’s the law in all parks, all the time.

Sustainability Story: D9 Fall Community Cleanup

cleanup

Please plan to join your neighbors and neighborhood/business associations (Frankfort Avenue Business Association, Crescent Hill Community Council, and Clifton Community Council) on Saturday, October 20, for the D9 Fall Community Cleanup.

In partnership with Brightside, volunteers will be cleaning up the Frankfort Avenue corridor, specifically working on trimming trees and cleaning tree wells. Volunteers should plan to meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Keats and Frankfort Avenue public parking lot for breakfast sandwiches, provided by the Clifton McDonald’s, and hot coffee, provided by Heine Brothers’ Coffee. The cleanup will officially begin at 9:00 a.m. The District 9 office will provide bags, gloves, tools and t-shirts on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you would like to register your own neighborhood team through Brightside, please click here.

We’d like to feature your sustainability story - a resident or business doing good things for the environment.  Riding the bus, bicycling, walking, gardening and more - our eNews will feature practices which can benefit all of us.  Send your story to Bill Hollander or Kyle Ethridge
