Tres, FEMALE DOG
Tres is as sweet as can be and one of the cutest
Beagle-mixes you’ll ever meet! She may be 12 years old but still has
plenty of spunk and is a happy girl! Tres knows some commands, is house trained
and treat-motivated! Tres usually has a smile for everyone she meets but she’s
grown tired of the shelter. She would be great in a home as the only dog or
with another dog that is laid back. Tres’ adoption fee is waived, thanks to the
Pay It Forward Program. To meet Tres, visit Animal House located at 351 Newburg
Rd. Send questions to animalservicesadoption@louisvilleky.gov
or call 473-PETS!

Healthy Hoops Kentucky is an event where asthmatic children and their families can learn more about having asthma and other asthma-related conditions, in addition to learning some great ways to get exercise and stay healthy with Louisville basketball legend Darrell Griffith!
Healthy Hoops Kentucky, presented by Passport Health Plan, is FREE for all asthmatic children ages 7 to 14 and their families. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, and will be held at Central High School, 1130 West Chestnut Street. Families can register by going online to healthyhoopsky.com or by calling (502) 585-8429.
Event features include:
- In the morning, children and their families will receive a comprehensive clinical screening to evaluate their asthma, a free consultation with an asthma health professional, and nutrition counseling. They will also learn how to lead active lives while managing their breathing, how to use medications appropriately, how to monitor exercise, and how to keep asthma under control. Each family will leave the screening with an “Asthma Action Plan” and tools to keep their asthma under control.
- Then, after a free lunch, the children will head to the basketball court, where on-court legend Darrell Griffith will lead a team of celebrity basketball coaches in a series of workshops designed to teach the children how they can play the game even if they have breathing issues.
Healthy Hoops Kentucky is sponsored by Passport Health Plan, the University of Louisville, the AmeriHealth Caritas Partnership, the American Lung Association, and other local organizations. It is coordinated by a coalition of community leaders. Participants do not need to be Passport members to take part in the event. For more information, go online to healthyhoopsky.com.

We have heard from many constituents that they are disappointed with the amount of littering in the area. This event is an amazing opportunity to put on some gloves and take pride in our community.
The 2018 Brightside & Passport Health Plan Fall Community Wide Cleanup is on Saturday, October 20th! Last year's fall Community Wide Cleanup saw over 8,500 volunteers clean up our city and this year, we want to shatter that number!
We encourage all residents to take part in the Community-Wide Cleanup. The event is a great service opportunity for boy/girl scouts, sports teams, faith groups and community organizations. It could also be a corporate team bonding opportunity!
Cleanups are an integral part of Brightside's mission and without the help of volunteer groups, and many other volunteers throughout the year, Brightside could not achieve their goals of a cleaner, greener Louisville.
To register, please call (502) 574-2613 or register online at https://louisvilleky.gov/government/brightside/brightside-passport-health-plan-community-wide-cleanup about two weeks prior to your event to schedule your cleanup and for information about getting supplies.
Thanks to each and every volunteer who supports the Brightside & Passport Health Plan Community-Wide Cleanup. We look forward to seeing you on October 20th. Thank you for your dedication – we can’t do it without you!
