 Councilman David Yates was joined by Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch and Louisville Metro Parks' Assistant Director Jason Canuel for the official Groundbreaking of the Waverly Park Restrooms on Wednesday, March 7th.
This $300,000 investment will bring state of the art restroom facilities to Waverly Park, requiring both water and electrical lines to be run into the park for the first time.

 Jefferson County residents may drop-off residential flood
debris at any of seven sites Thursday March 1 through Saturday March 24.
Six of the drop-off locations will be open Thursday through Saturday, 1 p.m. to
8 p.m. The Waste Reduction Center will be open for debris drop-off Monday
through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The free service is available for residents of Jefferson
County only and it does not include commercial haulers. No yard waste
or construction debris other than flood-damaged drywall and insulation
will be accepted. Electronics must be separated from other items. To qualify
for the free drop-off residents must present the attendant with two forms of
identification verifying Louisville residency.
If a citizen hires an individual or business to remove
debris, the citizen must accompany the hauler to the drop-off center or provide
the hauler with the same two forms of identification to present at the
facility.

Residents who cannot drop off debris may request pickup
service.
Pickup requests must be made by telephone or email no later than 5
p.m. on March 9 to 574-3571 ext. 0 or email: swmd@louisvilleky.gov.
This service is for flood-damaged items only.
Any other items set out will
not be collected. Electronics must be separated from other items set out
for collection.
Requested pickups will be performed according to the
following Metro Council district based schedule:

for the Brightside
& Passport Health Plan Spring Community-Wide Cleanup is
open!!

The
cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 14th with the suggested cleanup
times of 8:00am – 12:00pm. (If the date we have set doesn't work for your
group, that's OK, we will support any cleanup that takes place in the weeks
surrounding April 14th.)
All
cleanup teams will receive bags and gloves at no cost, and the first 5,000
volunteers to register will also receive a free t-shirt. Brightside welcomes
groups of all sizes, big and small and if you're not sure where you would
like to hold your cleanup we can help with that too, just give us a call or
send us an email and we will be happy to make a suggestion.
Supply
pick up will be held on Sunday, April 8th at the Iroquois Park Amphitheater,
1080 Amphitheater Rd, 40214 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
All
supplies are pre-packaged by group for team leaders to collect. If a group
fails to pick up their supplies on April 8, and they have t-shirts, the
t-shirts go to other volunteers on a first come, first served basis. Groups
who do not have t-shirts can call Brightside on Tuesday, April 10th to see if
any t-shirts have been returned.
Brightside
is proud to be holding our Cleanup with the Give A Day - Mayor's Week of
Service for the fifth year. Cleanups are an integral part of
Brightside's mission and without the help of your volunteer group, and many
other volunteers throughout the year, we could not achieve our goals of a
cleaner, greener and more sustainable Louisville.

 Reporting potholes is
easier than ever! Keeping our roads and community pristine is an important
issue to everyone in the area. Follow any of the three simple methods listed
below when you see a pothole and Public Works will respond as soon as they can
in order to fill them.

other issues. You may also email them at metro.call@louisvilleky.gov

US 31W (Dixie Highway): Lane closures and sidewalk
closures in place between Greenwood Road and Heaton Road (mile markers 11.7 to
14.5) due to construction for access management and bus rapid transit lines.
Roadway is reduced to two lanes on northbound Dixie Highway between Greenwood
Road and Blanton Lane and
two lanes on southbound Dixie Highway between Heaton Road and Upper Hunters
Trace.
South of Greenwood Road
US 31W (Dixie Highway): Lane closures and delays possible
between Stonestreet Road and Pages Lane (mile markers 9.7 to 10.5) due to
sidewalk work.
 1. What is the current schedule and completion date?
- The new completion date for the project is May 15, 2018.
2. Whom is responsible for overseeing the Dixie Highway Paving Project?
- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the State Government's agency charged with building and maintaining federal highways and Kentucky state highways is charged with overseeing the construction of the Dixie Paving Project.
3. Whom is the contractor charged with the infrastructure repair and repaving of Dixie Highway?
- Hall Contracting of Kentucky, Inc. was awarded this contract in the amount of $14.5 million from the State.
4. Will the contractor be penalized for not completing all work by the completion date?
- If the project continues beyond the May 15, 2018 deadline the contractor will be assessed a fine of $25,000 per day.
