 The Louisville Resilience team is asking citizens to complete a short web-based survey to help craft the city’s strategy for withstanding “shocks and stresses,” such as economic downturns and natural disasters.
Louisville Resilience will use the residents’ feedback as the office, in partnership with the community, crafts policies and implementation strategies.

Kilowatt Crackdown - Register you building for the 2017 Kilowatt Crackdown!
The Louisville Energy Alliance recognizes building owners and operators that track, reduce and report their electricity and natural gas usage using Portfolio Manager. This year's competition will recognize the best performer in 2017 and the most improved from 2016 to 2017. Awards are distributed by building type. Register here by February 14, 2018.

Kilowatt Cup - Register your building for the Kilowatt Cup competition!
 The Kilowatt Cup recognizes superior achievement in energy efficiency. Winners are selected based on achievements in energy management, obstacles overcome and energy efficiency practices. Applicants may submit more than one building. The application includes a 500-word narrative and energy usage tracked in Portfolio Manager. Applications are due February 14, 2018.
All awards are hand made by local artist, Devin French.

The Division of
Community Forestry is partnering with Metro Parks, Olmsted Parks Conservancy,
Louisville Grows, Trees Louisville and many others to celebrate this
year’s Arbor Day in April. Events will include a community tree planting,
a Metro Parks tree planting, tree giveaways and tree education
opportunities. Keep an eye out for the celebration date and the many

 The Partnership for a Green City has launched a sustainability
literacy survey and they need your input.

*Shade trees are generally medium to large sized trees that have spreading canopies (e.g., oak, maple, linden, elm), though smaller species like redbuds and serviceberries also fall under this category. Green Infrastructure Incentive
The Office of Sustainability offers incentives for green infrastructure projects. Funding is available for commercial (including businesses, nonprofit and houses of worship) installations. Funds are used to match MSD’s Green Infrastructure Financing Incentive program such that eligible projects approved by MSD qualify for additional incentives through the Office of Sustainability. Eligible projects include green infrastructure installations that keep at least 1” of stormwater out of the sewer and drainage system such as rain gardens, pervious pavement, green roofs, infiltration drains and water harvesting systems. Kentucky Sustainable Manufacturing Initiative-Workshop 3
The KSMI final module will focus on a
positive culture for sustainability and integrating sustainability into day to
day operations. This workshop will include a
discussion of incorporating life cycle thinking into ISO 14001:2015
environmental management systems and how the Kentucky Toxics Release Inventory
(TRI) Database can benefit manufacturers. Sustainability efforts at two
Kentucky manufacturers will be presented as well as an introduction to
sustainable product development in preparation for a future webinar on the
topic. An overview of the core engineering research facilities at the
University of Louisville will also be presented.

Register today for Louisville Grows Citizen Forester Classes
Through the Citizen Forestry 101 and 102 courses, participants learn how to build and maintain our neighborhood and community forests. Participants are taught basic tree anatomy and physiology, environmental stewardship, tree identification and selection, young tree pruning, and how to teach others how to properly plant and care for their trees.
There are two classes being offered:
- February 10th: Park Duvalle
- February 17th: Portland
