JCPS Superintendent Finalists - Survey & Opportunities to Meet - Tonight!

asdfasdfasdf

The Jefferson County Board of Education (JCBE) has named two finalists for the position of superintendent of the Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) District.

The two finalists are JCPS Acting Superintendent Marty Pollio and JCPS Chief Operations Officer Mike Raisor.

The Board is interested in hearing your priorities for the next superintendent and your thoughts to help inform the Board's interviews and selection. Families in the district have two different ways to participate in the process, and I hope you take advantage of both.

First, please participate in an online survey by visiting JCPSYourVoice.com. The survey will remain open until February 2. If you do not have internet access at home, we've partnered with local libraries to have computers where you can complete the survey. You can also drop by our West Louisville Satellite Office on Tuesdays or Thursdays to complete the survey.

In addition, we're having public forums that will provide in-person opportunities to meet and hear from our finalists. All of the events will take place at 6 p.m.

    • Thursday, Feb. 1, Pleasure Ridge Park High School
      5901 Greenwood Road

Thank you for letting us hear your voice.  Working together, I know that we'll select a superintendent who will benefit our district and our community for years to come.

BBB Warning: Beware of Super Bowl Ticket Scams

    asdafasd

Now that the teams have been chosen for this year’s big game, Better Business Bureau is warning consumers about possible ticket fraud. The secondary market can be great for non-season ticket holders, occasional fans, or those making a last-minute decision to see the big game, but to avoid disappointment, make sure your tickets are legitimate.

BBB offers the following tips for safe ticket purchases:

Check out the seller/broker. Look them up on bbb.org to see what others have experienced. Check to see if they are a member of the National Association of Ticket Brokers (natb.org). NATB members offer a 200% guarantee on tickets that don’t arrive in time for a game, concert or show.

Know the difference between a ticket broker (a legitimate and accredited reseller) and a ticket scalper (an unregulated and unlicensed ticket seller).

Look for secure websites that have https and a padlock on the page.

Check the ticket broker’s refund policy. Only buy from a ticket reseller that provides clear details about the terms of the transaction.

Always use a credit card so you have some recourse if the tickets are not as promised; do not use cash, wire money straight to the seller, use gift cards, or use a prepaid debit card.

Be cautious of Craigslist. Craigslist does not provide a guarantee if you get scammed. If possible, conduct the transaction in a public place and don’t pay any money up-front.

Check out the seats ahead of time. Always ask for section, row, and seat number to avoid obstructed view seats or seats that do not exist. Also ask for a picture of the tickets so you can confirm the tickets match the venue.

If you believe you have purchased a counterfeit ticket, immediately report it to the NATB’s hotline at 630-510-4594 and file a complaint with BBB at bbb.org.

For more consumer tips, visit bbb.org or call 1-800-388-2222.

Public Meeting Scheduled For Project Update

    asdfasdffad

People who live and work along Dixie Highway can learn more about the New Dixie Highway Project at a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Shively Community Center, 1901 Park Road.

Those attending will learn more about the design of the new Bus Rapid Transit system, as well as how U-turns will be effectively and safely handled. U-turns will become a necessary part of driving once medians are placed along much of Dixie Highway.

The event will be from 4 p.m. to 7  p.m. This is a come-and-go Open House style event that is designed so that people can drop in, as convenient, during that window. You do not have to be there precisely at 4 p.m. to learn about the project.

FAQ: Will The New Dixie Highway Have Fewer Lanes?

One of the most common questions we get is about whether we will have fewer lanes with the New Dixie Highway.

    NO!

    • While there will be temporary lane closures during the construction process, there will be no permanent reduction in the number of lanes.
    • Medians have been designed at different widths depending on space availability, so that the lane number can be maintained.
    • Furthermore, all lanes will be open to all traffic. (For example, there will not be a dedicated bus lane.)
