Yard Waste Collection Suspended

Louisville Metro Seal

Yard waste collection is now on a seasonal shutdown with yard waste routes suspended until March 12. This does not affect garbage or recycling collections. Due to low volumes of yard waste in the winter, the seasonal suspension is annual now from early January until mid-March.  During the suspension period, citizens should not put yard waste out for collection. Thank you for your cooperation.  


LIHEAP Crisis Program Now Open

LIHEAP

LIHEAP is accepting applications through March 30th or until available funds have been expended, whichever comes first. This year’s Crisis Program features expanded eligibility for past due amounts in addition to those that have received a disconnect notice. Residents wishing to apply must make an appointment utilizing the automated appointment system. Schedule appointments by phone at 502-991-8391 or online at louisvilleky.cascheduler.com.  The toll-free service is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.


The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program

Louisville Asset Building Coalition's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, and AARP Tax Aide programs provide trained, IRS-certified volunteers to offer free tax services at more than 20 sites across the city to individuals and families who earned less than $64,000 in 2017. YMCA Safe Place "Together 4 Teen Tour"

LWC Eastern Parkway Project Update

The next phase of  LWC work is between East Burnett Ave and Poplar Level Rd. The west bound lanes of Eastern Parkway are closed and the road will operate as two lanes. "Treebate" - buy a tree, earn a rebate

TreesLouisville, in partnership with the Louisville Metro Division of Community Forestry, is currently running a Tree Rebate Program as an incentive for homeowners to plant more trees.

The Tree Rebate Program is open to all residents of Jefferson County. Through the program, participants can earn a rebate of 40 percent (up to $80) on the purchase of a shade tree. Rebates will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until funds run out. For full details, visit treeslouisville.org/rebate.

Metro Haz Bin Expanding it's Schedule

The Household Hazardous Materials drop-off service, or Haz Bin, is expanding to Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting February 13th. Haz Bin, located at 7501 Grade Lane, is available to all residents of Louisville/Jefferson County. It provides a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted household hazardous materials which are not accepted in household garbage collection or recycling centers. The 95-gallon and 65-gallon recycling carts are available for District 15 residents for only $25 -- this is a 50% discount off the cost.
