Councilwoman Marianne Butler was joined with Mayor Greg Fischer and several other councilmembers at the "ground breaking" for the newly restored/renovated Colonial Gardens corner. This $5.6 million, public/private partnership will bring four restaurants offering more choices for people attending events at Iroquois Amphitheater as well as those living in the area.
"This is one of the largest economic development projects that South Louisville has seen in some time! I thank the Underhills and the administration for coming together to find a partnership that works for all involved," said Butler. "This is a development that will transform this tired corner into a vibrant community spot and show other developers that investing in South Louisville is a win." Construction should take about 15 months.

The Plant for the Planet
program is modeled after the United Nations Environment Program's (UNEP) Plant
for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign. The purpose of UNEP's tree-planting
effort is to bring individuals, communities and businesses together to
collectively plant over one billion trees worldwide each year. Similarly,
LG&E and KU's program is designed to encourage nonprofit organizations and
local government agencies with a record of successful tree planting to continue
their efforts. The company has designated up to $75,000 each year toward this
initiative. LG&E and KU offer one-year grants of $500 to $5000 for urban,
suburban or rural projects in forests and parks, along parkways or roadways
that meet program objectives. Applicants must demonstrate that mature trees
resulting from their efforts will not interfere with utility lines

While
you rake the leaves from your yard, Louisville Water meter readers ask that you
remove leaves and debris from your meter lids too, especially before the snow
falls. Snow on meter lids will melt faster without leaves insulating them.
Clear meter lids help ensure that your meter reader finds your meter quickly,
and that your water bill will be actual, not estimated. |

 Louisville
Water has begun the renovation of the 48-inch transmission main in
Eastern Parkway. LWC will start at I-65 and Crittenden drive. This
will require the closure of two westbound lanes from Concord Drive to
I-65. We are expected to be in this area for approximately 4 weeks. LWC
originally planned to start at Eastern Parkway and Beargrass Creek,
however the bridge work presented complications. In addition to the lane
closures, the southbound ramp from Crittenden Drive to Eastern Parkway will be
closed. Throughout the project, Louisville Water will continue to update
customers on the impact of our work. Communications channels include
emails, twitter, a dedicated web page at LouisvilleWater.com/Eastern PkwyProject and
frequent media updates.
