District 10 news

Happy Thanksgiving

To our friends and family, near and far, District 10 residents and Louisvillians  —

May the good things of life be yours in abundance, not only at Thanksgiving but throughout the coming year.

We feel thankful to live in a vibrant city where people of all backgrounds have a chance to achieve their dreams. A place where the son of an Irish immigrant who arrived at the age of 17 can earn a law degree and serve his community through Louisville Metro Government.

We're thankful for all the generous and kind people we see in Louisville, and especially District 10, helping others in need. Whether it's working to provide food for those who might go without, or making sure our senior citizens have a place to go to socialize, our friends and neighbors are blessing others with their generosity and love.

As I gather with my family, I hope that you will enjoy this time with family and friends. Wishing you a peaceful and relaxing holiday!

Thanksgiving announcements and closures

All Metro Council offices will be closed on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24.

There will be no residential garbage, recycling or yard waste collection within the Louisville Metro Urban Services District (former Louisville city limits) on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 23. Residents who normally have garbage/yard waste/recycling collection on Thursday will have service instead on Friday, Nov. 24. The regular Friday collection will be delayed until Saturday, Nov. 25.

Staffed recycling centers and the Metro Waste Reduction Center will be closed Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24. Leaf drop-off will also not be available those days. All three services will resume on Saturday.

The HazBin hazardous waste facility at 7501 Grade Lane will be closed on Saturday, November 25.

Residents who rely on private haulers for garbage, recycling and yard waste collection should consult those haulers about holiday collection schedules.

This is a great time of year to check on the welfare of our elderly neighbors or those with disabilities. Folks may need a little help with yard work - wet leaves on sidewalks can become hazardous - but don't want to ask.
