Light Up Louisville has been a tradition for more than three decades for thousands of residents and visitors to our city. Heading into its 37th year, Light Up Louisville will serve as a kickoff celebration to Louisville's Holiday in the City.

Light Up Louisville is held the day after Thanksgiving with the arrival of Santa Claus, who will help Mayor Fischer illuminate downtown Louisville at Fourth and Jefferson Streets.

  • 6:30 p.m. Lots of Lights Parade - Starts at Seventh and Jefferson Streets and heads east on Jefferson Street. The parade wil then turn down Fourth Street and disperse at Muhammad Ali. The Lots of Lights Parade is an evening parade of lights, bands, carolers, car clubs, floats, children's groups and civic organizations. Register for the parade here.
  • 8:00 p.m. Light Up Moment - Santa joins Mayor Fischer on the main stage at Metro Hall to light up the city Christmas tree located at Jefferson Square Park. Grab the best view of the lights, fireworks and action right in front of the stage on the west lawn of Metro Hall.

New vendors wishing to participate in the LIHEAP 2017-2018 program are required to complete documentation. Packets can be downloaded from the louisvilleky.gov website by clicking here, or picked up in person at the LIHEAP administrative office, 701 W. Ormsby, Suite 201. The office will be open Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and it is recommended to call first, 574-6082.

LIHEAP, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, is a federally-funded program that provides financial assistance to help eligible, low-income households meet their home heating needs. LIHEAP vendors are defined as any business that supplies energy, such as rental facilities where utilities are included in the rent, or provides home heating fuel to individuals applying for the LIHEAP program. Examples of home heating fuel include oil, kerosene, propane, bottled gas, wood, electric or natural gas.

Vendor paperwork will provide information about changes in the LIHEAP program this year and the LIHEAP staff members are happy to address any questions. Vendors who participated in the 2016-2017 program should receive a packet in the mail to update records for this year’s participation.

The Subsidy Phase of LIHEAP begins Nov. 6 and ends Dec. 15.  Please contact Brandon.Oneal@louisvilleky.gov or (502) 574-6082,  or visit https://louisvilleky.gov/government/resilience-and-community-services/low-income-home-energy-assistance-program-liheap for more information.
