Enjoy the
trail when you volunteer as a docent/ambassador (assisting people both on and
off the trail), being an exit guide, escorting our mascot, and more! We are
looking for up to 30 volunteers a night, to serve between 6pm-11:30pm on
weeknights and 6pm-12am on weekends. There will be orientations held for all
volunteers. Volunteers receive snacks, refreshments, and one FREE TICKET to the
event for every shift worked. For more

 The Interstate
264 West ramp to northbound Dixie Highway (Exit 8B) will remain closed until Monday October 9 at 5
a.m. This was originally scheduled for last Friday(9/22/17) but postponed.
During the closure the ramp will be converted from the present curved single
lane merge configuration to a T-intersection, including a traffic signal to
safely move vehicles off the exit. A new sidewalk is also being constructed
under the expressway on the east side of Dixie to safely accommodate pedestrians.

opportunities for the LIHEAP Subsidy Phase (Low Income Home Energy Assistance
Program) will continue through 31st for Jefferson County
residents within 130% of the federal poverty guidelines who are elderly (age 60
or over) or disabled receiving social security, SSI, pension or Black Lung

showcases our community's only 24-hour shelter for homeless & runaway
teens and other programs focused on young people in crisis! A lite lunch will
be provided. |

for the Brightside & Passport Health Plan Fall Community-Wide
Cleanup is open. The cleanup will take place on Saturday, October
21 with the suggested cleanup times of 8 a.m. to noon (If the date we
have set doesn't work for your group, that's OK, we will support any cleanup
that takes place in the weeks surrounding October 21.)

All cleanup teams will receive bags and gloves at no cost, and
the first 5,000 volunteers to register will also receive a free t-shirt.
Brightside welcomes groups of all sizes, big and small and if you're not sure
where you would like to hold your cleanup we can help with that too, just
give us a call or send us an email and we will be happy to make
a suggestion.
Supply pick up will be held on Sunday, October 15 at the
Iroquois Park Amphitheater, 1080 Amphitheater Road, from 2 p.m. until 5
p.m.
Cleanups are an integral part of Brightside's mission and
without the help of your volunteer group, and many other volunteers
throughout the year, we could not achieve our goals of a cleaner, greener and
more sustainable Louisville.

Iroquois Park
A not-so-traditional run in Iroquois Park with an amazing
after-party. This run isn’t about who’s the fastest. This is simply about
having fun. Every 3 quarters of a mile, you’ll be treated to a specialty
beer sampling. Once you’ve made it through the 5k course, we’ll welcome you at
the after-party with your choice of a 16oz beer. We’ll continue the party with
live music, food, and plenty of fun all while benefiting Olmsted Parks! That’s
not all! Every participant receives a 16oz Louisville Beer Run glass and an
authentic Louisville Beer Run t-shirt included with a paid registration.
Additional glasses and shirts are available for purchase. Runners begin at,
your choice of, 10:00 or 10:15AM, walkers will start at 10:20AM. This event is
restricted to individuals who are 21 years of age or older as of the day of the
event.

 The
project, covering 6.4 miles, will be completed in phases over the course
of three years. Phase 2A, slated for mid-October 2017 through April 2018,
involves work on 1.7 miles of the water main along Eastern Parkway from
Crittenden Drive at I-65 to Beargrass Creek near Poplar Level Road. The work
requires some road and lane closures but customers will continue to have a
reliable water source throughout the duration of the project. Check the website
often for updates regarding closures and detours. LWC has created a

"Golftober” is back! Louisville
Parks and Recreation will offer an affordable family golfing package at its
nine golf courses each weekend in October. For
only $25, a family of up to four members can play 9 holes at any Metro Parks
course.
The $25 includes greens and carts fees, and families can take advantage of the
deal after 4:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during October. The
golf special is available Oct. 6-8, Oct. 13-15, Oct. 20-23 and Oct. 27-29.
Families are encouraged to book a tee time in advance at the golf course of
