MSD wants you to know
that anyone in Louisville Metro can purchase flood insurance and even though
flood insurance isn’t always required, people outside the mapped floodplain can
still be at risk. Over 20% of all National
Flood Insurance Program flood insurance claims are from areas outside the
mapped high-risk areas. Just a few inches of water from a flood can cause tens
of thousands of dollars in damage.
Protect yourself and your home by calling your insurance agent to learn
more about flood insurance or by going to www.floodsmart.gov.
Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear is warning Kentuckians to
be aware of a sham fundraising organization, “Coalition for Veterans of
America.” Beshear’s Office of Senior Protection verified the organization is
a sham claiming to seek donations to help cover Veterans Affairs medical
bills and aid homeless veterans. Beshear wants Kentuckians who would like to support deserving
veterans and their families to do so without being victimized. “Our veterans and their families deserve respect and safeguards from
scammers,” Beshear said. “To make sure our veterans and legitimate veteran
organizations receive donations, I am asking Kentuckians to beware of this scam
and take time to verify a charity before making a donation." Donors who are not familiar with a charitable organization can
verify official organizations on CharityNavigator.org. The Attorney General’s
Consumer Protection website offers research tools, including a
list of active charitable giving campaigns in Kentucky.
