New Basketball Courts at Wyandotte Park

Pictures

Many thanks to South Louisville Native Bryson Tiller and Nike for the generous donation of new basketball courts at Wyandotte Park.  The courts have a special gel surface and are very durable.  "Mr. Tiller has never forgotten where he came from and continues to give back," said Councilwoman Marianne Butler.  "I applaud Mr. Tiller and Nike for their generosity!" The new courts are a continuation of the Wyandotte Master Plan.  In coming months the tennis courts will be refurbished, pickle ball courts will go in and there will be lighting upgrades.

New Farmers Market Association and Guide to Local Food Resources

Publication1

Louisville has a new Farmers Market Association (LFMA). The purpose of the new association is to support farmers markets, farmers and local food producers to promote access to a healthy and sustainable food system. LFMA does this by providing assistance such as marketing, financial advisement, vendor and volunteer recruitment to increase the capacity of farmers markets. It also helps to facilitate better access to healthy fruits and vegetables for everyone by helping the markets support SNAP (food stamps) participants through the Double Dollars Program and Free EBT Equipment and seniors through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. There is also now a new Guide to Local Food Resources that provides a map and list of all of Louisville’s farmers markets, Fresh Stop markets and Healthy Corner Stores. Click here to see the guide.

Water Company Eastern Parkway Project Update

Louisville Water Company

The restoration related to the EasternPkwyProject is essentially complete. A few areas along the route still need minor work and road striping is scheduled, now Mother Nature just needs to cooperate. Several questions have been asked recently about work on the bridge close to the Medical Arts building. Please know this is not a Louisville Water Company project and is not associated with the Eastern Parkway project. This is a KY Transportation Cabinet project that just happened to start as our project ended. We do not know any of the details for this job but can provide emails if you'd like to reach out to the KY Transportation Cabinet for more specifics. Please email publicinfo@lwcky.com for contact information.
