95 Gallon Recycle Carts available for $25 for District 15 residents!

A discounted recycle cart program is now available for District 15 residents. The 95-gallon recycling carts normally cost $50, but Councilwoman Butler has made them available for residents of District 15 for a reduced cost of $25. The reduced cost recycle carts will be available on a first come first served basis until the funds are depleted. This particular offer is available to District 15 residents only. To receive your recycle cart call Solid Waste Management (SWMS) at 574-3571 or download the form here:

The Louisville Winds are a group of young people from grade school through age 21. The LYO is made up of four orchestras, an elementary string program, and various ensembles in which students advance according to their own musical progression and interests. There are nearly 350 musicians from 60 schools and 15 counties in the Louisville & Southern Indiana metro area.

Community Dental Care is a full-service dental organization designed to increase access to health care in communities with the goal of improving the overall health of the population.  Representatives will be on site to provide free dental screenings for children and adults and schedule appointments as necessary.  Kindergarten and pre-K children who receive screenings will be provided with a certificate that will meet the school district’s requirement for dental screenings. WeCare Energy Efficiency Overview

Representatives from the WeCare Program at LG&E will be on hand to talk with interested persons about energy efficiency, energy usage and tips to reduce utility bills.  WeCare staff can also help determine if households are eligible for a variety of free services including air duct sealing and insulation, attic and wall insulation, programmable thermostats and much more. Since 2005, the Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement has awarded more than a half million dollars in grants to more than 100 community groups. 2017 awards will range from $7,500-$11,000 and will be given to applicants, chosen by a review committee, for projects impacting any of the following focus areas within the Healthy Louisville 2020 Plan:
Healthy Homes and Healthy Neighborhoods
Healthy Mothers and Healthy Babies
Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods
Mental and Behavioral Health
Obesity Prevention
Social Determinants of Health
Substance Abuse Prevention

Fan Collection for Seniors and Disabled Residents

KIPDA Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living is again partnering with Louisville Metro Office for Aging & Disabled Citizens (OADC) to collect electric fans for seniors and persons with physical disabilities. The fans will be distributed to qualified individuals within the KIPDA region including Jefferson, Bullitt, Henry, Shelby, Oldham, Spencer, and Trimble Counties. Donations of new box fans will be collected through June 14 at:
   KIPDA, 11520 Commonwealth Drive (Lou., KY 40299)
   WLKY Studio, 1918 Mellwood Ave.
Drop off hours are Monday through Friday; 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. for KIPDA and 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. for WLKY.

LWC Water Main Improvement Project Communication Survey

Phase one of Louisville Water’s historic water main improvement project is nearing the end, with the final steps of sidewalk and curb repair, grading and seeding of yards, and paving finishing up.
