Community Meeting

April 17 at 6:30 PM

Southwest Library

Flooded roadways, destroyed homes and raw sewage overflows are reminders that our city’s ability to thrive depends on the most basic public health and safety protection systems – wastewater, stormwater and flood protection.  MSD has completed an extensive analysis of these systems, and input is needed from the community to determine how soon the critical projects should be completed.

While Louisville can no longer avoid renewing and restoring its vital systems, the difficult truth is the solutions come with a price tag of $4.3 billion over the next 20 years.  This includes almost $500 million to finish the remaining Consent Decree projects to meet the federal order to reduce sewer overflows.  Recognizing the magnitude of the impact on ratepayers and the community, MSD is leading a wide-reaching community conversation.

Western Union Looking for Scammed Kentuckians

scam

You may be aware of the recent settlements against Western Union for its violation of anti-money laundering laws and its failure to stop fraudulent wire transfers.  Included in these settlements is a $586 million dollar restitution program for consumers who sent scammed funds via Western Union anytime from January 1, 2004 through January 17, 2017.  The Attorney General’s Office believes that consumers may be able to recover some funds that they sent via Western Union.  Given the nature of the scams, it is likely that many of these consumers were seniors.

The Attorney General’s Office is attempting to get as many eligible Kentuckians as possible to submit claims to Western Union for possible restitution.

Western Union now has an active website and phone number for consumers who may have been impacted:
