THE GIRL IN US
(TGIU)
TGIU (The Girl In Us) celebrated Sisterhood on March 11, 2017. These
girls are different, unique and all come from different walks of life. However, they
all share one thing and that is being a girl, striving to be their best and to
make the right decisions. These girls were once strangers to each other but over the
past 6 months have become sisters. Sisterhood is not only blood relatives
but a bond that is shared between two or more girls not always related. The
girls lit candles representing unity and performed in a drum circle.
“Sisterhood strangers now sisters, sisterhood”.

Literacy &” Camps
Families with third- through fifth-graders in Jefferson
County Public Schools still have an opportunity to sign their children up for
JCPS’ “Literacy &” camps at five locations. The free camps combine reading
with character-building activities such as chess, karate, hip-hop, photography
and robotics.The
students do not have to attend the school where the camp is held.

Rental Property Deadline – April 3
The deadline to register your rental
property is coming up on April 3, 2017. All property located in Louisville
Metro and occupied or offered for occupancy in exchange for money or any
other consideration must be registered with Louisville Metro Government.
Failure to register is subject to a fine up to $100 per day per housing unit.
Registration must include the rental unit street address along with current
contact information of the owner and managing operator.
Registration requires
an account with Develop Louisville. Visit, https://www.louisvilleky.gov/government/codes-regulations,
to establish an account and access the registry, or to get detailed
information and instructions on registry requirements.

Community Meeting

each month, a Community Meeting is held to give residents an opportunity to be
informed, discuss ideas and share. Be part of the change we want to see

Louisville
might lose tens of millions of dollars in federal funding...
under the budget plan
submitted by the Trump administration. The newly announced "skinny
budget" calls for elimination, or near elimination, of funding for dozens
of smaller federal agencies and programs, including the development block
grants, weatherization assistance, the National Endowment for the Arts, the
Corporation for Public Broadcasting and many other traditional
"feel-good" efforts. For Louisville, this means the Transit Authority
of River City might have to forego its usual purchase of more than a dozen new
buses a year.

Voluntary Travel IDs
Republican Gov.
Matt Bevin has signed a law allowing Kentuckians to purchase voluntary travel
IDs to replace their standard drivers' licenses. Records show Bevin signed
House bill 410 on Tuesday. The law seeks to comply with the federal Real ID Act
of 2005, passed in response to the 2001 terrorist attacks. For an extra $5,
Kentuckians will be able to purchase a new drivers' license that complies with
the law.
