The Fenley Cemetery Restoration began 2 years ago as a Brightside Project with Councilwoman Vicki Welch a major sponsor. But just restoring the cemetery didn't end there. It became the driving force behind getting District 13's first Kentucky Historic Highway Marker. "I am proud to provide funding for the District's first Historic Highway Marker and honor the work of those volunteers throughout this project."
Many Community groups joined together in countless hours of reclaiming one of the first family cemeteries in this part of Jefferson County. Some of those volunteers are pictured below as work continued the second year. You can learn about the rich history they uncovered and some of the techniques used to reclaim the dignity of this cemetery at the reception at the Little Loomhouse immediately following the dedication. Project Co-Chairs, Stefanie Buzan and Rosemary McCandless will be on hand to talk about the project and history connected with the project.
"So, please join us as we celebrate another milestone in South Louisville's rich history." Councilwoman Vicki Welch.
