In order to raise awareness of diabetes and to connect persons at risk to health services, several Neighborhood Places are hosting screening events.  Nurses from local hospitals will be on site to conduct blood glucose screening for diabetes.  Nurses will work with participants to connect them with identified health care and educational services and programs. Sponsored by Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness.

South Points Scenic Area 2017 Map

The newest edition of the South Points map is now out. It features famed attractions such as Churchill Downs, Riverside, the Farnsley Moremen Landing, Jefferson Memorial Forest, Little Loom House and the historic Iroquois Amphitheater. It also details the interesting history of the area, including tidbits about the Wet Woods, West Point and Ford Duffield, Mann’s Lick, Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing and The Little Loomhouse. 
The South Points Scenic area attracts 1.4 million visitors annually. The project also includes highway and thoroughfare signage to direct visitors to points of interest. For more information and to see a map of restaurants, landmarks and other Southwest attractions visit southpoints.org/.


Cool Roof Rebate Program NOW AVAILABLE

The Louisville Metro Office of Sustainability is pleased to announce the launch of its Cool Roof Rebate Program, providing rebates to property owners of $1 per square foot of cool roof installed, with a goal of incentivizing at least 100,000 square feet of cool roofs. Buildings located in Metro Council Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 14 and 15 are identified as high heat island areas based on the Urban Heat Management Study (2016), and will receive at least 60% of the available funding. Applications will be accepted beginning on March 20, 2017 and the program will continue until funds are depleted. To apply for rebates from the Office of Sustainability’s Cool Roof Rebate Program, applicants should complete the online application or email a completed application along with a completed W-9 to sustainability@louisvilleky.gov. The Office of Sustainability’s cool roof incentive funds are available on a first-come first-served basis. Applications may be submitted before the project is completed, but funds will not be dispersed until project completion.

Eastern Parkway Water Main Replacement Project Update

Louisville Water Company

Cherokee Parkway is closed from Willow Avenue to Longest Avenue. This road closure is effective until March 20. See map one for detours. One lane of Cherokee Parkway to Grinstead Avenue is also closed from 7:00 am - 7:00 pm. In addition, there may be intermittent lane closures along sections of the entire construction route for restoration work. Construction is now 90% complete!
