Metro Council District 13 Downtown and
Fairdale Offices closed for Memorial Day Holiday
Offices will reopen Tuesday May 31. Residents who rely on private haulers for
garbage, recycling and yard waste collection should consult those haulers about
holiday collection schedules on Memorial Day, Monday May 30.
The Waste Reduction Center on Meriwether Avenue,
along with all staffed recycling centers and the Haz Bin hazardous waste disposal site, will be
closed on Saturday May 28 in recognition of the holiday and closed on Monday as
usual. A complete list of the sites and regular operating hours is at louisvilleky.gov/government/public-works/services/recycling.

 Metro Parks and Recreation is offering an
affordable family golfing package for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend
again this year. For only $25, a family of up to four members can
play nine holes at any Metro Parks course. The $25 includes greens and cart
fees, and families can take advantage of the deal after 4:30 p.m. on three
days: Saturday, May 28, Sunday, May 29 and Monday, May 30.

 Southwest Community Ministries invites the public to our first
Cha Cha for Children event on July 23 from 6 to 9 PM at Riverside
Farnsley Moremen. Partake of chocolates, cheeses, and champagne while
enjoying one of the best views of the Ohio River. You may watch people
learning to cha-cha or join in yourself.
Funds raised will assist in
creating our educational center for teaching practical living classes that
focus on financial and nutritional success for our families. Advanced

 The
Louisville Metro Council has teamed up with the Louisville Bats to provide
tickets to deserving groups in the community for certain games. Metro
Council Monday tickets are available to non-profit organizations, charitable
groups, and volunteer organizations working to improve our city. If your organization
is interested in this offer, contact Shelby Harding in the Bats office at sharding@batsbaseball.com.
Please reference your Metro Council District, the name of your organization,
and the number of tickets being requested. The dates available are May 30,
June 13, June 27, July 25, August 8, August 22, and August 29.

 The Solid Waste Management
Division of Louisville Metro Public Works is developing a ten-year solid waste master
plan. The results may impact every household in Louisville/Jefferson County
long into the future. We ask citizens to take part in the planning process in
two ways:
Attend a public meeting

June 9, 2016 at 6pm, Southwest Public Library (9725 Dixie Highway)

 Move Louisville, the city’s 20-year
multi-modal plan, was released on April 14th. The plan describes 16
priority projects and 8 priority policies to improve Louisville’s
transportation network.
A 60-day public comment period for Move
Louisville also began on April 14th and ends June 14th. Metro encourages residents and businesses
