LMPD 4th Division Oaks & Derby

4th Division will increase in patrols for the Beechmont area.  This will include ATV patrols and also foot patrols.  The mounted horse patrols will begin the week after Derby and is also being used to train new officers.

The 4th Division is also shifting focus on violent crimes for the time being.  This isn’t so much about Beechmont but rather other areas of the 4th Division in which there is a high number of homicides.  This isn’t a big issue for Beechmont but do keep it in mind.

Grade Lane Construction Project to Continue Through June 20th

road

Construction is progressing on a project to relocate Grade Lane from the Kentucky Air National Guard property.

This road currently bisects the base property.  The project involves reconstructing a portion of Grade lane and shifting the roadway east to run parallel with Interstate 65.

As part of this construction, the westbound lanes of Grade Lane will be closed between Preston Highway and I-65.  This closure is scheduled to continue through June 20.

Motorists can access Grade Lane by continuing south on Preston Highway, turning right onto Alder Avenue, left on Lotus Avenue and then accessing the Grade Lane Connector over I-65.

In addition, the exit ramp from I-65 South to Grade Lane/Preston Highway (Exit 130) will be reduced to one lane during this phase of construction. The lane reduction will be in place from April 30 through June 20.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet awarded a contract to Mac Construction and Excavating of New Albany, Ind., valued at $6.6 million, with work scheduled for completion by September 2016.
