“President McGowan changed Bellarmine from a largely commuter college to a world-renowned university.  Bellarmine, its students and alumni, and our entire community will certainly feel his loss.  My condolences go out to both his immediate family and his large Bellarmine family.”

"Jim King Trail" Dedication

Last Friday, February 26, Councilman Mulvihill, along with Jim's family and nearby residents of Kensington and the surrounding area, was honored to dedicate the "Jim King Trail". President King worked diligently to create this walking path and the often used path at Joe Creason Park in order to improve the quality of life for District 10 residents and our entire community. When the need to identify this trail arose, it was certainly obvious to the nearby Residents and to Councilman Mulvihill that it should be named for the visionary who created it.

"Reaffirming Our Diverse Culture"

Councilman Mulvihill was very pleased to recognize Mr Jeramy B. Hughes in the Metro Council Chambers for his accomplishments as as an honoree for the 14th Annual Black History Month Program. This program, held on February 25 and was sponsored by the Council's Community Affairs and Housing Committee chaired by Councilwoman Shanklin. Congratulations to Jeramy, otherwise known as the  "Mayor of Petersburg".

Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District

Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering free soil testing for Louisville Metro homeowners – limit 2 tests per household!

Although fertilizer, lime, and other amendments can be very helpful in establishing happy, healthy plants and lawns, they pose a risk if not used properly. Excess fertilizer and chemicals wash away with rainwater and pollute our local streams and waterways. The first guideline of responsible fertilizer application is to take a soil sample and have it analyzed to determine fertilizer needs. The Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is offering a soils test incentive program to offset the cost for Louisville Metro residents. The SWCD will provide up to 2 vouchers per household to cover the processing fee for a standard soils test. People wishing to participate in this incentive program must request the soils test voucher(s) from the Conservation District office. Email your voucher request to: joy.edwards@ky.nacdnet.net The email should include your name, physical address, phone number and if you want one or two vouchers. The soil vouchers along with you r soil sample should be taken to the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service at 810 Barret Avenue for testing. Questions—call 502.499.1900
