The first illegal dumper caught in 2016
demonstrates the effectiveness of our surveillance cameras even in low
light. A camera photographed the violator, seen in the act in the picture above on the right,
dumping debris in the alley of the 1700 Block of W Ormsby Avenue in the
midnight hour Monday. Officer John Renn located the truck Tuesday
morning, issued a citation and impounded the vehicle, as seen above. The
owner of the vehicle quickly removed the debris and paid the $500
citation.
In 2015 Public Works
and LMPD towed and impounded 18 vehicles and we issued $23,428 in fines
against their owners. Nine of those citations totaling $9,250 have
been paid in full. Vehicles with unpaid citations will be sold at auction at a
later date.

The Kentucky Harm Reduction Coalition will
offer free Naloxone (also referred to by its brand name as Narcan®) kits and
training sessions on how to administer it to reverse the effects of
overdose from heroin and other opioid drugs to prevent death.
Training
sessions are open to the general public including first responders and to the
family and friends of those who use heroin or other opioid drugs.
Each training session takes about 15 minutes to complete. Training
sessions are held on Wednesday, February 10 from 1 p.m. to 4
p.m. at the Department of Public Health and Wellness located at 400 E. Gray St.
Naloxone
(also known as Narcan®) is a medication called an “opioid antagonist” used to
counter the effects of opioid overdose. Naloxone is used in
heroin and other opioid drug overdoses to counteract life-threatening

overdose victim to breathe normally.

Tolling
isn’t expected to begin until late this year, but now is the time for residents
to learn more about RiverLink. RiverLink is the new, all-electronic tolling
system making the Louisville – Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project
possible.
RiverLink open house events are planned for most Tuesdays and
Thursdays in February and March. All open houses are scheduled for 5:30 – 7:00

about RiverLink, and ask any questions they may have. Displays will include
information on how all-electronic tolling works, what transponders are
available, what payment options exist and initial toll rates. All
