2015 was a busy year for District 15
Metro Council passed legislation allowing the Health
Department to set up a needle exchange program. This program helps reduce
the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C in our community. In addition to the
exchange, Metro Council is supportive of treatment programs and is offering
training seminars to train individuals on noticing the signs and symptoms of
drug use. We also passed legislation requiring promoters to get a permit
for parties. This legislation protects residents by ensuring that the
venue is safe and trained security is present.
District 15 residents were honored this year by Louisville Metro
Police. Hazelwood Block Watch received the block watch of the year
award. If you are interested in starting a block watch please call the
4th Division at 574-7010 – block watches do make a difference!
How District 15 helped you this year: Nearly 2,500
District 15 residents called the office with questions and concerns in 2015.
Nearly half of those calls were registered with Metro Call creating a tracking
number for investigation and follow-up. Susan and Dan performed research and
followed up with 747 residents. Many thanks to Susan and Dan for their
dedication and efficiency for District 15 residents!
Many thanks to all the residents that participate in their
neighborhood associations, block watches, neighborhood walks and Brightside
clean ups. By working together we make our neighborhoods stronger and
vibrant.
