Today, the MUSCL Senior Wellness Center was renamed and dedicated in honor of the late Jim King.
Jim had a special love for the center and was a tireless supporter. His family was on hand today as the new sign was unveiled at the center.
The Kentuckiana Blues Society presented the Senior Center with a gift of $2,000 that was raised at the recent Blues Festival in Germantown.
The Jim King MUSCL Senior Wellness Center is open to anyone 55 or over and is free of charge. Seniors can learn computer skills, take an art class, work out in the fully-equipped fitness center, participate in handbells or chorale, bowl on the Wii, watch a movie, play cards, work a puzzle or simply enjoy a cup of coffee with friends. To learn more click here or visit the center at 1020 E. Burnett Street, Louisville, KY, 40217.

Germantown Baseball has been a part of this community for decades. They are a premier little league that puts sportsmanship and character first which has resulted in developing talented players.
They have dozens of volunteers who give countless hours to the young people that play at Germantown Baseball. That is one reason why I am so proud to sponsor a Neighborhood Development Fund Grant for this organization.
This grant allowed them to purchase a used bobcat for maintaining their baseball and softball fields. They were also able to purchase seating, bleachers and picnic tables for families and fans to use.
The Louisville Zoo is a true community treasure and we are very fortunate for it to be in District 10.
Saturday, November 7 will be District 10 Day at the Zoo. Admission for District 10 residents will only be $5.
Please print a copy of this e-news and present the barcode at the Zoo gate. Parking is $5 per vehicle.

On Monday, October 19 at 3:00, the Public Safety Committee will be taking up my Public Nuisance Ordinance. This ordinance is broader than just troubled hotels. It has the potential to make an impact on areas that have been havens to crime for far too long.
You can follow this legislation and watch this meeting online by clicking here.
We know you care, so be energy aware
October marks the 25th annual National Energy Awareness Month, also referred to as Energy Action Month, which was created to encourage government and other organizations to emphasize and promote the importance of managing and sustaining the country's vital energy resources. By using energy wisely and more efficiently, we can all do our part to contribute to the nation's prosperity and security. LG&E and KU offers some simple ways to help waste less energy, improve efficiency and save some green:
Get a Home Energy Analysis – find out where you might be losing energy and what improvements to make. Schedule an on-site analysis or perform an online version before cold temps set in.
Make sure your furnace filter is clean – dirty ones make your system work harder, and that takes more energy.
Seal around windows and doors – eliminating air leaks is a great way to reduce energy loss.
And, if you have an older model refrigerator or freezer, you can improve energy efficiency by replacing it with a newer model, which could be eligible for a rebate. Thanks to LG&E and KU’s Fridge and Freezer Recycling program, the company will haul your old one away (as long as it's full size, still in working condition and easily accessible) and give you $50.

Many precinct polling locations have changed in fact, twenty-five across Jefferson County are being moved for the November 3rd General Election; mostly for reasons related to deficiencies at the former precinct location in the May primary, such as not having enough parking or accessibility issues, county election officials have announced. In some cases, the new locations are more centrally located within the precinct.
Everyone in Jefferson County can check voter registration status and find out his or her November 3 voting location here:http://ags2.lojic.org/WhereDoIVote/ .
Individuals who will be out of the county on Election Day may vote early at the Urban County Government Center , 810 Barret Avenue, Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, now through November 2, and on Saturdays, October 24 and 31, from 9:00am-2:00pm.
More information about absentee voting is here: Absentee Voting.
