Help Bring Google Fiber to Louisville!

goo

Google Fiber is Google's fiber-to-the-premises service in the United States, providing broadband internet and cable television to a small and slowly increasing number of locations.

Currently only Kansas City, Kansas; Austin, Texas; and Provo, Utah have the incredibly quick internet and cable television services.

Multiple cities have applied to become the next city to receive Google Fiber's services. The Gigabit Service will allow more technological businesses to flourish in our city and provide subscribers with the fastest internet service in the world.

Do your Part!

You can help Louisville Metro show our support of becoming a future location for this service simply by submitting your home address alerting Google to your interest in their service. Please follow this link: https://fiber.google.com/about/louisville/ to learn more about how this service will radically affect our city.

Announcing Work Group for City Preservation

Cynthia Johnson, the City’s Historic Preservation Officer, will convene a group of preservation leaders to determine the best possible reuse of older city buildings and, in the interim, the City will move forward with measures to protect the building components from environmental elements.

This work group is a precursor to a larger community-wide initiative to take a more proactive approach to protecting and preserving the city's most endangered historic structures. This larger initiative will be led by Louisville Forward and engage all community stakeholders to ensure we preserve our rich history and plan for redevelopment of our treasured assets.

The group will look at ways to develop new practices and improve existing methods for heritage management. Those interested in participating in the work group should contact Johnson at 574-2868 or Cynthia.Johnson@louisvilleky.gov. To learn more about historic preservation, click here
