This coming Saturday, September 26th, "Talk With David" will be held at the La Casita Center located at 223 East Magnolia Avenue beginning at 10am.
This event gives constituents of District 6 an opportunity to speak with the Councilman James about issues and concerns you may have for your neighborhood. And also to hear from Councilman James on projects that you may have noticed throughout the district.
"Talk With David" is a free and open event. All are welcomed and encouraged to bring a friend along with you.

 The Old Louisville Town Hall Meeting is coming on Monday, September 28th from 5pm to 7:30pm.
This meeting will give constituents of District 6 an opportunity to ask questions and hear answers from a panel that consist of representatives from Codes and Regulations, LMPD, Public Works, Seven Counties, and Coalition for the Homeless.
This meeting is open to the general public and all are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
The town hall meeting will be held at the Memorial Auditorium located at 970 South 4th Street.

 Are you interested in learning dances like the Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Jive, Waltz or the Samba? Have you ever wanted to learn ballroom dance? Well here is your chance!
The Catholic Enrichment Center of the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry will offer the Second Round of Ballroom Dance Classes.
The nine sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays: September 29, October 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, and 27, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. at the Catholic Enrichment Center located at 3146 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40211. The culminating event will be a showcase that will take place on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. with light hors d'oeuvres.
The theme of the experience and showcase is a “Masquerade Ball” and the fee is $25.00 per couple per session ($200.00 for nine sessions) and $15.00 per individual per session ($120.00 for nine sessions).

Louisville Metro Community Services' LIHEAP Program is a federally funded program that provides financial assistance to help low-income residents pay utility bills. The Subsidy component of LIHEAP will begin November 4, 2015.
Pre-registration opportunities for the Subsidy Program will be offered during October for those residents who are on a fixed income, and who are elderly (age 60 or over) or disabled receiving social security, SSI, pension or Black Lung benefits.
Applicants must be Jefferson County residents within 130% of the federal poverty guidelines and willing to provide the documentation below. (Note: click on Early Registration attachment below for income chart):
• Picture ID for head of household (if available)
• Proof of all household income for the preceding month (food stamp award letter, pay stubs, etc.). All individuals 18 or over in the household with no income must have a Proof of No Income form completed prior to applying for benefits. (Available at the Community Services' office at 810 Barret or by clicking here.
• Social Security card(s) or official documentation with social security numbers or Permanent Resident Card Numbers for everyone living in the household.
• Most recent heating bill or verification from landlord that heating expenses are included in the rent (i.e. lease agreements).
Residents who meet the early registration requirements may apply at one of 14 community or senior centers across Jefferson County.
Funds for applications completed at the early bird sites will be posted on or after November 4, 2015.
Income-eligible residents who don’t meet the requirements for pre-registration (who are not elderly or disabled) may still apply for LIHEAP benefits. They may obtain an appointment to apply for LIHEAP, in person only, at the Central LIHEAP Office located at the Urban Government Center, 810 Barret Ave. on Nov. 2 between 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and on Nov. 3 between 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. All three LIHEAP offices will begin taking appointments on Nov. 4, weekdays between 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (except for Fridays at the Newburg site).

Individuals who are unable to apply for this program in person may send a representative on their behalf. Simply provide the representative with a hand-written note, dated and signed from the applicant, giving them permission to handle their application for services. The representative will also need to provide their photo ID matching the name specified on the applicant’s note, along with the applicant’s photo ID, as well as the required documentation above that is required to apply for the services/programs.
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) – Crisis Phase
Louisville Metro Community Services' LIHEAP Crisis Program provides utility assistance to low-income residents who have received a disconnection notice from their utility service provider or a past due bill with a disconnection notice, or who have received an eviction notice from their landlord if utilities are included in their rent, or who are currently without utility services. This program will begin operation the first part of January 2016.
LIHEAP Vendor Solicitation for 2015-16 Season
New vendors wishing to participate in the LIHEAP 2015-2016 program are encouraged to fill out necessary paperwork. LIHEAP vendors are defined as any business that supplies energy, such as rental facilities where utilities are included in the rent, or provides home heating fuel to individuals applying for the LIHEAP program. Examples of home heating fuel include oil, kerosene, propane, bottled gas, wood, electric or natural gas.
 The Catholic Enrichment Center of the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry will host a City-Wide Spelling Bee at the Catholic Enrichment Center, 3146 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40211.
The Rounds & Finals will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Students from grades 1 - 8 are invited to participate. Registration is required and there is a $5.00 entrance fee per person.
