"Suicide is a preventable problem with realistic opportunities to save many lives. Each member of the community has an important role in turning the tide of suffering and disability caused by this under recognized public health problem." -U.S. Surgeon General
Greetings One Love Louisville supporters and friends!
This month’s issue is dedicated to National
Suicide Prevention Week, "Preventing Suicide: Reaching Out and Saving
Lives". According to local data, 431 Louisville residents lost their lives
as a result of suicide between 2009-2013. This is unacceptable - One life
lost to suicide is too many. #1LoveLou aims to decrease suicides by
increasing awareness of prevention strategies, targeting resources and working
with a multitude of groups and individuals to create a city-wide suicide
prevention strategy. To learn more about National Suicide Prevention Week, click here. To learn more about the work Louisville is doing around suicide prevention, click here.
Sincerely,
Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods Team
