Councilman Ackerson strongly opposes this proposal and needs your help in this matter.
He understands the need for the services of a methadone clinic as this problem extends into many families throughout Louisville Metro. However, he feels it is irresponsible to place one in a residential area or the shopping centers which serve one. There are residences immediately behind the site on Gerald Court and next to it on Green Meadows Drive. The location could have an impact well beyond the immeidate area and into the surrounding neighborhoods. Again, he opposes this proposal and needs your help in this matter.
Councilman Ackerson has been visiting many of the businesses in and around the Bardstown Square Shopping Center located at Hikes Lane and Bardstown Road concerning the planned location of a methadone clinic in the shopping center, in the former post office site. Earlier this week we received formal notification for a meeting to be held Tuesday August 11, 2015, at 6:30 pm at the First Alliance Church, 3726 Bardstown Road, just south of Hikes Lane.
Please share this notification with anyone you feel might be interested or affected by this proposal and encourage them to attend and speak at the meeting.
This matter, a request for a Conditional Use Permit, will be ultimately heard by the Board of Zoning Adjustment and does not require a vote of the Metro Council. As such, community participation from both residences and commercial entities is paramount.
Councilman Ackerson has been working hard to improve this area and we have made great progress. New paving, bike lanes in the area, the renovation of both area parks (Farnsley and Pee Wee) along with many other improvements have proven to increase property values and a quality of life for the neighborhood. We must not allow anything that would stifle this work.
Again, below are the details for the meeting and your attendance and participation are encouraged.
DATE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2015
TIME: 6:30 PM
LOCATION: THE INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN CENTER OF FIRST ALLIANCE CHURCH, 3726 BARDSTOWN ROAD, SOUTH OF HIKES LANE ON THE RIGHT
Your help in getting this message to your neighbors is greatly appreciated.

It began by simply asking Americans to turn on their front porch lights as a way of showing criminals the neighborhood was taking back the streets and fighting crime as part of National Night Out.
On Tuesday, August 4th, Councilman Brent T. Ackerson encourages the residents of the 26th districts to join the men and women of the Sixth Division of Louisville Metro Police to learn how they can help in that fight to keep everyone safe.
This year the Sixth Division will join the Seventh Division to host National Night Out in Okolona at the Target on Jefferson Boulevard from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
“Every year in August, we try to send a strong message to the criminal element out there that we want to keep our streets and our homes safe,” says Ackerson. “We need to partner with police officers and other law enforcement to make sure the criminals do not have the advantage.”
Officers of the Sixth Division will be on hand to meet residents and talk about crime prevention and how to protect you and your family. Information about organizing and maintaining a block watch program will be available along with other crime prevention information.
There will also be food, refreshments and other activities.
For more information about the Sixth Division’s National Night Out event, call 574-LMPD (5673).
