Brightside Cleanup in District 13

2015

The 2015 Brightside volunteers pose for a group picture with CW Welch after getting their T-shirts before they head out to begin various clean up projects in the district.

bs

Fenley Cemetery was chosen as one of District 13 cleanup sites this year.  The work at the abandoned and heavily overgrown cemetery lasted 2 days.

Saturday, volunteers carried underbrush, small trees and vines that had been cut on Friday, to the chipper provided by the District 13 council office.

Many of the fallen headstones had to be reset.  Everyone pitched in to right the heavy stones.

fs

One of the oldest headstones dating to the 1870's, includes images of an anchor which denotes the profession of a seaman.

Congratulations to the volunteers in their efforts to restore the landscape, headstones and original plantings to help reclaim this forgotten piece of Iroquois history.
