Pedagogicon 2026

Teaching & Learning Essential Skills for Tomorrow’s Graduates

Friday, May 15, 2026 -- Eastern Kentucky University

Pedagogicon is the annual peer-reviewed conference that brings together faculty, scholars and academic leaders designed to ignite innovation, deepen impact, and share knowledge among colleagues across Kentucky. Hosted by the Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE), the 2026 event will focus on the 10 Essential Skills -- how to embed them in programs, how to teach them, and how to assess student learning. With a combination of plenary sessions, faculty-led breakout sessions, and poster sessions, attendees will leave with strategies, resources, and an expanded network of colleagues working on these essential components to learning.

Join us as we envision and enact a future where teaching and learning cultivate the knowledge and essential skills that empower graduates to thrive in a rapidly changing workforce.

Registration for this full-day event is $50/person and includes lunch.  Registration closes on April 30, or until sold out.

Call for Proposals open through March 15

Presenter

CPE invites proposals for presentations, workshops, panels, and posters that explore innovative teaching and learning practices centered on preparing students with the 10 essential skills needed for success in the future of work, citizenship, and lifelong learning, as designed through the Kentucky Graduate Profile.

Submissions should connect scholarly research, classroom practice, and institutional initiatives, with particular emphasis on practical and evidence-supported approaches that are forward-looking, transferable, and scalable across disciplines. We welcome proposals that address, but are not limited to:

  • Evidence-supported strategies for integrating the 10 essential skills into course design, assessment, learning assessments, and instructional practices.
  • Research on the impact of essential skill development on student learning, persistence, career readiness, and workplace success.
  • Innovative uses of technology and GenAI in fostering essential skill development for the future.
  • Partnerships between higher education, community, and industry to support student preparation related to the 10 essential skills.
  • Faculty development models and programs that encourage adoption of essential skills teaching.
  • Student-led or collaborative approaches to future-focused essential skill learning.
  • Alumni and employer perspectives on essential skill learning experiences and applications.
