Mayor at the 45th Annual KCK MLK Holiday Celebration
Mayor Tyrone Garner joined a lively crowd of community members at the 45th Annual KCK Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Celebration held a memorial Hall in downtown KCK. There, he provided the annual Mayoral proclamation in recognition of MLK Day in KCK. Chicago native, Rev. Otis Moss III, moved the crowd with words of encouragement as the keynote speaker, and DA Mark Dupree awarded 5 scholarships as part of the office's continuing education initiative that included the MLK committee awarding 31 additional scholarships to students from across the Wyandotte County High Schools.
Thank you to Mr. Clarence Smalls, Paul Jones, Roslyn Brown, the KCK MLK Committee, the Baptist Minsterial Alliance, and other valued stakeholders for their continued commitment to keep the annual celebration and scholarship program an ongoing tradition of celebrating in Kansas City, Kansas.
Last week’s "Spots In The Dotte" tour took us to one of Central Avenues longstanding businesses, Michael’s Heritage Florist’s, at 1900 Central Ave in KCK.
The owners, Michael Rebout, his wife Terry Rebout, and their daughter Gretchen Kelley are celebrating 50 years of providing successful floral services “ Flowers In Abundance” to the amazing residents of KCK and beyond.
They noted their love for WYCO and all the wonderful people they have met over the years, and are extremely proud to have operated a successful business that brought joy to countless families near and far. Congratulations Michaels Heritage Florist’s on your 50th Anniversary!!

Changes Coming to KCK Municipal Court on Feb. 1
Kansas City, KS – Please be advised that beginning February 1, 2025, the Kansas City, Kansas (KCK) Municipal Court located on the 2nd Floor of the Municipal Building (701 N. 7th Street, KCK) will permanently change the morning docket start time from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM.
The change will allow customers more time to travel, park, and enter the Municipal Building.
“Changing the Municipal Court morning docket time to 8:30 AM will improve customer service,” said Administrative Judge Meaghan Shultz. “This time change will allow citizens time to complete other tasks such as school drop off or checking in with work prior to the start of our docket.”
Starting the morning docket at 8:30 AM is more consistent with other municipal courts in the area and region, and it allows for increased safety and security for those staff arriving early to prepare for the day.
It is also important to note that as of February 1, 2025, the Municipal Building (701 N. 7th Street, KCK) will not open its doors until 8:00 AM, rather than 7:30 AM.

Pick of the Litter
Eleanor (AO32936)
ELEANOR is a sweet sweet girl who's had a rough life. Her pretty little face is all scratched and scarred, and her ears have fly strikes indicating she's been tied up outdoors. Eleanor is very gentle and timid. She's sweet as can be, and needs someone to take her home and shower her with love and build her confidence and trust.
She was scared to walk on a leash but is getting much better. Eleanor is good with other dogs, and she really comes out of her shell when she's outside playing in the yard with a doggie friend. She'd love to have a doggie friend in her new home. She's pictured here with Wasabi. Eleanor is 3 years old and she weighs 49 lbs. She'll be a loyal companion to the person who gives her a chance.
