UG hosts first-ever convocation |
|
To kick-off 2025, staff from across the UG convened on Wednesday, January 15 to celebrate our successes in 2024, look ahead to 2025, and launch a few employee initiatives. We heard some incredible things about your efforts to keep our community safe, improve our parks, buildings and infrastructure, and provide critical services across our city and county.
We at Strategic Communications would like to extend our deepest appreciation to our partners who made this event possible: Buildings & Logistics (for all the details!), Parks & Recreation (a.k.a. Agents of Fun), Human Services and Environmental Services (for the great prizes).
We're working on the final video to share with you. In the meantime, if you'd like to catch the 2024 video recap, here's a link to enjoy!

2025 Trash Holidays
There are six holidays on which residential trash and recycling are not collected:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- 4th of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
On these holidays, the pickup of everyone’s trash and recycling is delayed by one day unless the holiday falls on a weekend. Learn more about weekly trash collection and get answers to some frequently asked questions by checking out the Weekly Trash & Recycling page. To find your trash day, visit maps.wycokck.org/TrashDay.html.

Changes Coming to KCK Municipal Court on Feb. 1
Beginning February 1, 2025, the Municipal Court located on (701 N. 7th Street, 2nd Floor, KCK) will permanently change the morning docket start time from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM. The change will allow customers more time to travel, park, and enter the Municipal Building.
“Changing the Municipal Court morning docket time to 8:30 AM will improve customer service,” said Administrative Judge Meaghan Shultz. “This time change will allow citizens time to complete other tasks such as school drop off or checking in with work prior to the start of our docket.”
Starting the morning docket at 8:30 AM is more consistent with other municipal courts in the area and region, and it allows for increased safety and security for those staff arriving early to prepare for the day. It is also important to note that as of February 1, 2025, the Municipal Building will not open its doors until 8:00 AM.
