These quarterly updates are for educators approved to teach real estate in Kansas. School coordinators and staff should subscribe to receive important news from the Kansas Real Estate Commission related to educational requirements. This publication is separate from the Commission Newsletter.
2026 Educators Meeting
The annual Kansas Educators Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 1:00 CST. Kansas real estate school coordinators, staff, and instructors are highly encouraged to attend. The meeting is fully virtual and registration is required here.
Licensee Data Report
A new report is available on the Public Portal and licensee data can be accessed in one place without logging in. The Licensee Data Report includes:
- License name and status
- Company
- CE requirements met
- Date of issuance and expiration
Visit the Public Portal and click the KREC Licenses tab. A Reports dropdown menu will appear in the top right corner. Click Licensee Data and the report will download as an Excel file. Data is subject to change daily. KREC only provides company contact information.
Pre-License Educators - License History Certification
KREC often fields questions regarding the License History Certification required for salespersons and broker applicants who hold a license in another state. This specific document contains date of license issuance, status history, and any disciplinary action. Students mistakenly provide a screenshot of their license, wallet card, or online license look up. These will be rejected and application processing could be delayed.
The updated Salesperson and Broker Licensure Requirement pages contain sections for those applying based on equivalent requirements met in another state. Students may download the License History Guide or contact the other state's licensing agency directly for state-specific instructions. Please share this information in your pre-license classes.
Specifically, for students already licensed in Missouri, they must login to their MOPRO account, pay a fee, and request the "Certification of Licensure" document be emailed to krec@ks.gov.
86-1-19. Submission of supporting documentation with application. In addition to submitting the application for original licensure as a real estate broker or salesperson, each applicant shall file the following with the commission: (e) a license history certification from any jurisdiction in which the applicant is currently licensed or has ever been licensed.
86-1-20. Age of documentation submitted to the commission.(a) A certification of licensure history obtained from any jurisdiction in which the applicant has, or has ever had, a real estate license shall not be used for licensing purposes if the certification is issued more than six months before the date on which the completed application for licensure is filed with the commission.
License Expiration Date Reminder
As a reminder, course completion credit must be conveyed digitally to KREC within five calendar days of course completion or by the licensee’s expiration date, whichever is sooner.
The following license expiration dates fall on a holiday or weekend:
- November 1, 2026
- January 1, 2027
If you have a student with one of these expiration dates, credit must be received by KREC no later than midnight of the expiration date to avoid possible disciplinary action. Please plan accordingly. If a school allows a student to successfully complete a course up until the last minute, credit must be conveyed on time. No exceptions. Schools should have systems in place to collect licensee information at the time of course registration and enforce school policies to stay in compliance.
Updated Salesperson and Broker Licensure Requirement Pages
Please visit the updated Salesperson and Broker Licensure Requirement pages! The requirements have not changed, however the content has been reorganized in a simpler format for applicants to find. A detailed guidebook with application instructions for all licensure types is available on each page. We encourage you to share these resources with your students.
