Important Dates
This fall brings many changes to KREC and our school coordinators. Please note the important dates below. We will discuss these at the Educators Meeting.
Course Content Update Deadlines
October 13: Verify all links and course content related to changes at krec.ks.gov are current and email kreceducation@ks.gov to confirm by this date. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action. See the email sent to school coordinators on August 13 for details.
January 31: New Principles of Real Estate courses due. See the information provided to you in the April Educators Update for more detail. Outlines are available here.
January 31: Renewals due for all courses you plan to offer in 2025. Watch for further communication in early December.
New Licensing System Dates and Black Out Periods
October 30 at 1:00 CST: Webinar - Course Completion Data Submission Demo. All approved school coordinators and/or staff should plan to attend this short training demonstrating how to upload CE and Pre-license course completion data to the new system. Click here to register. This will be recorded and schools will be provided with written instructions.
November 1-13: Pearson VUE testing freeze. Candidates are not able to schedule an exam in Kansas with Pearson VUE during this time.
November 5-12: Course completion data reporting freeze. The current KREC licensing system will not process new information during this time. You will be able to verify license information but cannot submit course completion data to KREC. It should not affect renewals for that month. We ask that you save your data to be uploaded to the new system when we go-live. While the process to upload is changing, the file format will stay the same.
November 13: New licensing system go-live. The KREC licensing system migrates from the current system to the new system. All education business processes will be conducted via the online portal. In addition to CE course completion data, pre-license course completion data will also be submitted digitally to KREC. The exam and license application process will be significantly streamlined for applicants in Kansas.
Detailed instruction will be provided to applicants, licensees, and educators regarding access to the new system, registration, and account linking as we near the go-live date.
Pre-License Educators: Take Note
With the new system, KREC will assign applicants a 10-digit temporary pre-license number beginning with PL to be provided to the school upon registration for a pre-license course. Schools should begin thinking about how to collect this number from the student applicant if you do not currently have a system in place.
Pre-license educators will be required to submit course completion data digitally to KREC within five calendar days of course completion. Similar to a salesperson or broker license number, schools will be able to verify the temporary pre-license numbers using the new KREC website after November 13.
Any applicant who completes a pre-license course prior to November 13 should be provided with a course completion certificate, per the current practice. For courses completed after November 13, schools should submit the course completion data digitally to KREC via the new system. You may still provide certificates for student records, but information must also be reported directly to KREC by the school.
Further instruction will be provided to all parties involved. We appreciate your cooperation as we navigate these changes together.
Weekend Expiration Date Reminder
As a reminder, course completion credit must be conveyed digitally to KREC within five calendar days of course completion or by the licensee’s expiration date, whichever is sooner.
The December 1 and February 1 license expiration dates fall on a weekend. If you have a student with one of these expiration dates, credit must be received by KREC no later than midnight of the expiration date to avoid a violation. Please plan accordingly.
