Year in Review

Currently, there are 18,377 active licensees in Kansas. Below are a few statistics for 2022 you might find interesting. KREC departments have been busy this year serving licensees, applicants, educators, and consumers. Here are some of the processes completed or monitored by KREC staff since January 1:

Resources for Kansas Real Estate Consumers and Licensees

Kansas Radon Program - The Kansas Radon Program at Kansas State University makes available several resources to assist buyers and sellers with radon detection and mitigation. A Quick Fact Sheet, training, and list of certified technicians are just a few of the useful items available at kansasradonprogram.org.

Home and Renters Insurance Guide - The Kansas Insurance Department publishes a useful guide for consumers, the Home and Renters Shoppers Guide, to provide an overview of basic coverages available and tips on buying homeowners insurance.

2023 Kansas Housing Market Forecast - Each year, the Center for Real Estate at Wichita State University produces the Kansas Housing Markets Forecast Series. This resource is available to anyone with an interest in the field of real estate. A forecast is available for the Kansas City, Lawrence, Manhattan, Topeka, and Wichita areas. County Housing Market Outlooks are also available for many of the smaller markets across Kansas.

Affiliation Changes and Updated Email Addresses

This time of year, licensees often change an active license to inactive status and remove the existing company affiliation. Login to E-Gov and select Affiliation Change to remove existing affiliations and change a license status. A licensee cannot perform activities requiring a Kansas real estate license while on inactive status. An inactive licensee must renew their license prior to their expiration date.

It is important licensees also update their email address. Renewal reminder emails are returned as undeliverable when the email address on file was associated with a company with whom the licensee is no longer affiliated. Login to E-Gov and select Name/Contact Info Change to update an email address.

As a reminder, the Kansas Real Estate Commission (KREC) and the Kansas Association of REALTORS® (KAR) are two separate entities. KREC and KAR do not share a database. A licensee who is also a REALTOR® should report contact information and status changes to both KREC and KAR.
