Final License Expiration Extension
Per Executive Order 21-22, the Commission is providing notice that all licenses which were scheduled to expire from April 30, 2020 until May 1, 2021 will expire on June 1, 2021. No further license expiration extensions will be granted past June 1, 2021.
When the extension of licenses ends, licensees are still responsible for completing CE and renewing in the next renewal cycle per the regular schedule. Accepting the extension does not change a license expiration date. For example, if your original license expiration date was 02/01/21 and, under the executive order, you did not renew until 03/15/21 your next renewal needs to be completed by 02/01/23.
Login to E-Gov to check CE hours and renew your license. Brokers, check license expiration dates for affiliated licensees by generating a current roster here.
Renewal after June 1, 2021 will incur an additional $100 late fee.
Escrow Receipts for Purchase Contracts
by Kiereon Sisney | Real Estate Specialist and Auditor
One of the most common violations found during compliance reviews is failure to obtain a receipt from the escrow agent for the delivery date of the purchase contract. In many files, a receipt showing the date of delivery of the earnest money is included, however the receipt does not acknowledge when the escrow agent received a copy of the purchase contract.
In accordance with K.S.A. 58-3062(d)(1)(B), listing brokers must obtain and keep a receipt from the escrow agent showing the date of delivery of the earnest money AND copy of the purchase contract in their transaction file.
Additionally, according to K.S.A. 58-3062(d)(2)(B), for transactions where there is no listing broker, the selling broker is required to obtain and keep a receipt from the escrow agent showing the date of delivery of the earnest money AND copy of the purchase contract in their transaction file.
It is important for a copy of the purchase contract to be delivered to the escrow agent to ensure trust funds are being distributed according to the agreement of the parties. Next time you receive a receipt from the escrow agent be sure to review it for compliance with KREC statutes, rules, and regulations.

Do You Know MyLicense E-Gov?
by Alycia Smith | Director of Licensing
KREC’s online licensing system, MyLicense E-Gov, enables automation of almost all license change processes. This improves processing speed and gives licensees more control of their information. In FY21, 92% of brokers and 97% of salespersons renewed online.
In addition to renewals licensees can change license status and affiliation, check CE hours, and update name, address, and email any time of day -- even on weekends & holidays! Instructions for all online processes are available in the Forms section of the KREC website and are accessible while navigating MyLicense E-Gov. If you haven’t yet, please register and login. KREC is excited to unveil more exciting changes in 2022.
KREC also offers an online License Search tool that can be accessed by anyone without creating an account. Search for licensees, schools, and companies by license number, ID number, name* or geographical location. The search tool provides accurate, real-time information to verify a license and find contact information for a school or company.
*PRO TIP: A company might be doing business using a trade name that differs from the actual company name. For example, KREC Realty LLC is the company name, but KREC Homes is the trade name. If you can’t find a company using the Name field, try entering the information in the Trade Name field instead.
