New Businesses in Downtown Olathe

Following Mayor John Bacon’s State of the City announcement, we are excited to introduce the new additions to Downtown Olathe. As Mayor Bacon shared, “Downtown is the heart of our city. Residents tell us they want to see it be more vibrant and lively with expanded dining options. We’re hard at work to bring that vision to life.”

Pizza 51 South

Opening soon at 200 S. Kansas Ave., Pizza 51 South will bring East Coast-inspired, hand-tossed, stone-baked pizza to Downtown Olathe. Set in a historic service station, the restaurant offers a laid-back atmosphere with pizza by the slice, sandwiches, salads, and cold beer. “Downtown Olathe has character,” says co-owner Jason Pryor. “You sit outside, relax, have a slice of pizza, and watch the trains go by.” Opening Target: Spring 2025.

Char Bar Smoked Meats & Pickleball

Located at the northwest corner of Kansas Avenue and Santa Fe Street, Char Bar will introduce award-winning KC BBQ with a twist! “Char Bar will be a true family-friendly destination,” shared co-owner Mark Kelpe, “and we look forward to being a part of Olathe’s future.” This expansive venue will feature seven pickleball courts, lawn games, and a two-story fire pit, making it more than just a restaurant—it's a destination. Expected Opening: Late 2025 to early 2026.

Third Street Social

Bringing its warm, social vibe and chef-driven comfort food, Third Street Social will open its first Kansas location at 135 S. Kansas Ave. Serving lunch, dinner, happy hours, and weekend brunch, Third Street Social is ideal for gathering with friends or family. Co-owner Andy Lock says, “Olathe is an amazing community, and we’re eager to offer our unique dining experience to our Kansas neighbors.” Projected Opening: 2025.

Exciting New Arrivals: HerMEtheus Coffee and Bikes 4 the Likes of Us

Our partnership with the city and the small businesses we work with has been one of the main reasons we continue to invest in our community. I encourage small businesses and retailers to reach out to me or other downtown property owners and get in early to be part of something special in downtown.”

With a focus on carefully sourced beans and creative brews, this new spot will offer specialty drinks, pastries, and inviting spaces for community members to work, gather, and unwind.
