City retiring Newton Connect mobile app
The City of Newton will soon be retiring the mobile app in September and replacing it with a web-based citizen request system. If you're an app user, take note!
The webpage at www.newtonkansas.com/report has the same functionality as the app – reporting issues like potholes, code violations, park problems, etc.
The service is being migrated to the City’s iWorq software system to streamline operations. The City also uses iWorq for permitting, code enforcement and Public Works workflow.
Utility customers can schedule bulky item pickups at www.newtonkansas.com/bulky.
The app will no longer be available for download in app stores beginning Sept. 1. For those who already have the app, it will remain on their phones but will no longer be functional. So please go ahead and delete it from your phone and start using the web platform.
Spring Lake Splash Park nearing end of season
There's still time to cool off at the Springlake Splash Park, but not much! With only a couple of weeks left in the season, now's the perfect time to enjoy some fun in the sun before the splash park closes around Labor Day weekend.
To get the water flowing, simply press the top of the green activation post or move one of the water cannons to start the fun!
Gather the family, beat the heat, and make the most of these last days of splash park season!
Celebrating National Dog Day with dog park friends
Centennial Dog Park is more than a place for dogs to run and play. It’s a place where friendships happen, both in pet and human form! From best buds with standing playdates to entire packs that know each other by name, Newton’s pups and their humans have created a little community of their own.
This week, we celebrate the four-legged friends who bring the zoomies, fetch, goofy personalities, and plenty of tail wags to the park.
Because every good dog deserves a place to run, play, and spend time with their best friends, Centennial Dog Park is just the place.
Care to join the pack? Learn more about Centennial Dog Park, including its location and resources! If you have Facebook, check out a collage of the other dog stars of the park!
NPD and Fire/EMS celebrate their four-legged friends
This National Dog Day, we’re celebrating the dogs who bring joy to our homes and, in some cases, help keep our community safe.
Newton Police Department’s K-9s Ziva, Kilo and newest member Wayne are highly trained members of the team. Alongside their handlers, they help track missing people, locate evidence, detect dangerous substances and assist officers in keeping Newton safe.
We’re also giving a shoutout to Newton Fire/EMS’s favorite firehouse pup, Sparky, who has an important reminder: Pets are part of the family and should be included in your emergency plans.
Keep pets away from fire hazards, make sure they can be quickly located and safely evacuated, keep identification information current, and have a plan for their care during an emergency.
Whether they’re working, helping their humans, or simply being the family’s favorite cuddle buddy, we’re grateful for all the dogs that make Newton a better place!

 First Responder Holiday Helpers returns
The Newton Police Department is once again joining the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office and emergency response agencies across Harvey County for the annual First Responder Holiday Helpers program.
This year, the goal is to help 250 local families enjoy a brighter holiday season. Emergency responders throughout the county work together to collect financial donations, which are used to purchase food through Dillons, which generously provides a 10% match.
In December, responders will gather at the Dillons Distribution Center to box the donated food, which is then distributed to local families who could use a little extra help during the holidays.
Since the program began, nearly 2,000 families have received assistance, thanks to the generosity of our community.
Want to help?
- Financial donations can be made by mail or in person at the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office or Newton Police Department, 120 E. Seventh St., Newton.
- Checks should be made payable to First Responder Holiday Helpers.
Thank you for helping our first responders take care of our neighbors and make the holidays a little brighter!
