"Fix a Leak" to save water and money
Fix a Leak Week (March 16-22) is a great time to check your home for common water leaks. Small issues like dripping faucets or worn toilet flappers can add up, wasting thousands of gallons of water each year, and are often quick, low-cost fixes that can save you money.
Thanks to the City’s updated water meter system, staff are also helping catch abnormalities and leaks early by monitoring for unusual water use and notifying 50-100 households each week!
See a blue tag on your door handle? It’s not a fine. It’s a friendly heads-up from the Water Division that a possible leak has been detected, so you can take care of it before it leads to higher bills or costly repairs. Take this opportunity to give us a call to make sure your contact information is up to date. You can reach Utility Billing at 316-284-6007; they're happy to help.
If you notice a water leak in your home or around the community, please report it. Call 316-284-6070 during weekday business hours, or 911 after hours to notify our Water staff.

Tree coupons available for spring planting
Spring is one of the best times to plant a tree. Warmer temperatures and seasonal rains help new trees establish strong roots before the heat of summer arrives.
To encourage more tree planting throughout the community, the City is excited to announce that tree coupons are now available for residents.
Program Details:
- Residents can receive 50% off the cost of a tree, up to $75
- Coupons are available at City Hall at the 3rd-floor reception desk
- Available while supplies last
- Must be a resident living within the city limits
If you’ve been considering adding a tree to your yard, now is a great time to take advantage of this program and help grow Newton’s tree canopy!
