A big thank you to everyone who joined us at South McDonald’s for Coffee with a Cop this past Tuesday! We had some great conversations, connected with community members of all ages, and appreciated the opportunity to simply talk and spend time together.

Newton Fire/EMS community talk at Newton Senior Center
We had a great time talking with community members at the Newton Senior Center about all things Fire & EMS—from the roles of EMTs and paramedics to how our crews respond to emergencies.
Big thanks to the Senior Center for the warm welcome! We always value the chance to connect, share, and answer thoughtful questions.
Check us out again at The Newton Senior Center on Monday September 15th from noon-1:00 pm for "First Aid Basics" led by Jared Bergner. More details to come soon!

Public Works
This week, our staff:
Streets & Sanitation
- NO street slurry scheduled next week (August 12-15).
- Curb and gutter repairs area 1
- Worked on School zone lights in preparation for the start of the school year.
- Placed barricades for the Count Fair Parade.
- Continued slurry sealing.
- Junk-Free program. Our inspector tagged 10 locations for ROW violations. 4 called in a bulky and were charged $10, 5 took no action and were charged $20, and 1 was forwarded to the ECO.
Building Zoning/Engineering
- Completed 40 building Inspections.
- Contractors continue to work on Hillside and Spencer.
Environmental Control
- There were 59 new cases started.
- Park received five weed abatement cases.

Parks & Cemetery
- Mowed waterways.
- Cleaned the fountain
- Repaired irrigation at the Arboretum.
- Spray weeds in the downtown corridor.
Water & Wastewater
- Installed four new five new services.
- Scheduled a Repair on a leak located on Old Main.
