 Happy 4th!
Newton City offices will be closed Friday, July 4 for Independence Day. Just a reminder that if you celebrate with fireworks, please be a good neighbor!
- Shoot only during the permitted days and times: That's 10 am-midnight July 2-5.
- Shoot only on private property, with the owner's permission. That means not in City parks or in the street. If you choose to shoot in the street anyway, watch for cars and at least clean up after yourself!
- Closely supervise children around fireworks at all times.
- Always have a bucket of water nearby.
- Light one firework at a time and then quickly move away.
If you see (or hear) persistent violations happening, you can call 911 to report. We don't use a non-emergency line in Harvey County. Stay safe, everybody!

KDOT to close 36th Street bridge

The bridge replacement project is progressing, with completion expected by the end of the year, weather permitting.
