 Bike Path Construction
A section of the Sand Creek bike path will be closed for repairs starting today.
The section on the east side of the creek between Broadway and Ash Street bridges will be closed to replace concrete that has become a trip hazard.
To allow time for the concrete to cure, it will be closed until April 25, weather permitting.

Water & Wastewater
- Installed six new services, two of which were irrigation.
- Repaired three water leaks.
- Completed maintenance on one of the treatment basins at the WWTF.
Volunteer Boards
The City has volunteer positions available on the following advisory boards:

Public Building Commission – considers building and capital improvements decisions for outdoor recreation and athletics facilities.

Law Enforcement Advisory Panel – advises in policy development, education, community outreach, and communications related to bias-based policing.

Community Development Commission – advises about efforts to support existing retail and commercial businesses and to recruit new businesses to Newton.

Land Bank Board – responsible for acquiring and selling distressed properties to address problems and return properties to productive use.

Main Street Board – works to strengthen and revitalize Newton’s downtown district as an economic development tool.

City Desk Kick Off Series
Introducing "City Desk"- an intentional series with Elected Officials and City staff whose main goals include:
Engaging, connecting with the community, availability for questions and conversations, and supporting our residents-all in an informal setting!
The series kick off begins at Newton Open Streets on Sunday, April 27th from 1:00-5:00 pm. Stop by to chat, play numerous yard games, and even "cone-nect" with Coney the orange traffic cone! We can't wait to see you!

Newton Open Streets, 1-5 p.m. April 27 on Oak Street between 5th and 7th. Food trucks, live music, booths, and games. Concert by Flattland follows at 5 p.m. on the Newton Public Library lawn.
