Newton City Commission approved a second round of Facade Improvement Grants for our Downtown buildings. This is a great opportunity to update the outside of your building. Updates can include but are not limited to:
- Awnings
- Signs
- Doors & Windows
- Concrete Work
- Exterior Improvements (lighting, painting, etc.)
The City will provide a rebate of up to 50% on eligible project costs up to a maximum grant of $3,000 for each property. To receive a grant, property owners or business operators must be current on property taxes. No grants will be awarded to projects that begin or are completed prior to application, and projects awarded must be completed no later than one year after awarded. Projects must meet Kansas Main Street Design Guidelines and any applicable Historic Guidelines, City Codes, and Zoning Codes.

The Wichita Area Builders Association (WABA) Home Show, held from January 30 to February 2, was a resounding success, drawing an estimated 15,000 attendees, according to Wichita State University. The event generated an impressive $40 million in business, reinforcing its reputation as a premier platform for connecting homebuyers, builders, and community representatives. The City of Newton partnered with Harvey County Economic Development to showcase all that the community has to offer, engaging visitors with information about housing, industry, local events, and ongoing community projects.
Throughout the event, the Newton team connected with hundreds of attendees, sharing stories and highlighting opportunities for new businesses, home construction, and tourism. The booth served as a hub for marketing the "Choose Newton" brand, emphasizing the city’s strengths as a vibrant place to live, work, and invest. Visitors received promotional swag, and many left with a greater appreciation for what Newton has to offer. Overall, the WABA Home Show provided an invaluable opportunity to promote community growth and economic development while strengthening regional connections.
