2025 Election
Thinking ahead to the 2025 election! What to know:
- The general election will be Nov. 4. It will include positions for all cities and school districts in Harvey County.
- The City of Newton will have three City Commission seats up for re-election: Leroy Koehn, Rod Kreie, and Melanie Watson.
- The deadline to file candidacy is June 2 at noon.
- To update your voter registration, register to vote, or file candidacy for an elected office, visit the Clerk's Office at the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main.
Holiday Schedule
Newton City offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which will also alter the trash pickup schedule.
Monday's trash pickup will be on Tuesday next week. Tuesday's route will run on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday routes will run as usual.

Ready to Run
Ready to Run, the new nonpartisan organization designed to help prepare those interested in elected or appointed office at the local level, began its second week with the City being a presenting partner. Ten individuals from Harvey County participated in two half day sessions on the specific functions of City Government. Next in the series, there will be two sessions on County government and two on school districts.
