 First Street water tank has been demolished

First Street water tank — The steel tank has been demolished. Footing and foundation testing will occur next.

Annual street overlay — Overlay is complete on portions of Old Main, Meadowbrook, and Quail Creek this week. Milling will begin on SE 14th Street on Wednesday, July 31 with repaving planned for Aug. 2.

Fox Ridge paving — Weir work was completed this week. The final lift of asphalt will begin the week of Aug. 5, and signage and pavement markings will be completed after that.

Warkentin House — Needed electrical improvements were completed at the house, including patch work.

Building permits were issued for two new single-family homes at 208 and 212 Matson in Wheatridge Addition, each valued at $200,000 (permit fees $1,315 each). This is a total of 13 new dwelling units for the year.

First and Spencer signals — The contractor poured two of the four signal pole foundations this week.

2025 Budget
The City Commission will hold public hearings on the 2025 City budget and the Revenue Neutral Rate at 7 p.m. Aug. 27. Earlier this week, the City published a proposed budget with a 1-mill reduction in the property tax rate.

Warkentin House summer concert
The finale of the Warkentin House's summer concert series is this weekend! Kilometer 81 will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 28 on the front porch. Kilometer 81 is a local bluegrass band composed of three siblings and their parents. They build elements of jazz, folk, and barbershop music onto a traditional bluegrass foundation.
A donation of $10 is suggested to support the nonprofit museum. Bring your lawn chairs!
