U.S. Adaptive Open
The 3rd U.S. Adaptive Open begins next week at Sand Creek Station Golf Course! It's such an honor to host this USGA championship for golfers with disabilities. The public is welcome to come out and watch these amazing athletes in action. Practice rounds are Saturday and Sunday, with championship play Monday-Wednesday. 2025 budget preparation
The City Commission will hold its next budget work sessions at 5:30 p.m. July 9. The meeting will be at City Hall and is open to the public. It will also be livestreamed and available for later viewing on the City's YouTube and Facebook channels.
In August, the Commission will publish a not-to-exceed budget for 2025 and set a public hearing for 7 p.m. Aug. 27. At that time the Commission may lower the budget amount but cannot raise it beyond what was published. The public is welcome to attend and provide comments at the hearing.

 Sand Creek Summer Daze
Members of Newton Police Department and Newton Fire/EMS will face off in the Battle of the Badgez Kickball Game for Charity at the Sand Creek Summer Daze Festival. The game will be at 7 p.m. July 12 at Athletic Park. It's one of many fun events planned for the festival July 12-13.

Recycling Report
The City's recycling contractor, Nisly Brothers, reports that about 51 tons of recyclables were collected in the second quarter of this year, with 479 active customers. No major problems were reported.
