Environmental Sciences Scholarship

This week, City Engineer/Director of Public Works Suzanne Loomis was pleased to present this year's Environmental Sciences Scholarship to Newton High School senior Reid Golubski. Reid plans to study civil engineering, possibly with an environmental focus, at the University of Kansas. Congratulations, Reid!
Administrative Professionals Day
This week we celebrated Administrative Professionals Day with a luncheon at Station 50 for our administrative professionals across all our departments. We are so thankful for the work they do every day to serve our residents and make sure our departments run smoothly behind the scenes.
Fire/EMS

Members of the Newton Fire/EMS Honor Guard team presented the Colors during the opening ceremony of the 4th annual Shield 39 golf tournament at Sand Creek Station Golf Course. The Shield 39 tournament is a fundraiser for the Shield 39 scholarship that was created in memory of Newton Police Sgt. Levi Minkevitch. Thank you to the Shield 39 board of directors for allowing us to play a part in such a special cause.
Water/Wastewater
Our staff completed some sewer line televising work this week. Sewer lines are often inspected using cameras to find obstructions, verify no damage due to surrounding utility work, and verify new lines are ready for service. Our staff can get a clear picture of the condition of the line from inside the TV truck.
