Plumbing Materials Survey
Our Water/Wastewater Division is on track for completion of the Lead & Copper Rule inventory in October 2024. There is some overlap in these numbers; we currently have about 8,050 accounts total in the database, and we are updating this as new accounts come on or inactive accounts are activated.
- Approximately 2,450 locations have been completed both on the public and private side.
- Crews have completed approximately 6,700 locations on the public side, leaving 1,350.
- Crews and property owners have completed approximately 2,800 locations on the private side, leaving 5,250.
- 12 property owners have indicated they will not participate after two attempts, and we are documenting this information in the spreadsheet.
- As of today, we have been unsuccessful contacting 310 locations.
Once we complete the public side or the weather becomes less conducive to operating the hydro machine, we will focus on knocking on doors to help customers complete the survey of the private side of the plumbing material.
If you have not yet completed the survey of the type of plumbing materials in your home or business, you can do so online.

Fox Ridge Redevelopment
Construction at Fox Ridge Addition is progressing quickly. Sewer line extensions for phase 1 are 90% complete and expected to be done by the end of the year. The street, water, and drainage improvements are out to bid now. Phase 1 includes a mix of both single-family and multi-family homes.
Newton Public Library
Interior improvements are full steam ahead, with restroom tiling done, dryfall painting done, ceiling grid near completion, plumbing fixtures installed, and millwork ongoing. Exterior panel finishes will be continuing for the next few weeks, and we will be prepping for the large patio soon. Permanent power is now in the building, and it is fully heated. Substantial completion is still set for the end of January with staff move-in starting in February.
Sanitation
Bulky Item Tagging Program: From Dec. 4-8, our inspector tagged 15 locations. One was handed over to the Environmental Control Officer, one scheduled a bulky item pickup and was charged a $10 fee, and two were charged the $20 fee. Eleven were taken care of by the resident.
